I obviously have not been here for a few days. I have been at Leadership Camp! It was a BLAST! I am going to try to break everything up day by day. This will be long...here goes.
Sunday - July 31, 2005
On Sunday, we left for camp. We met and left from Albertsons at Wandermere. We made our way to the Chewelah Peak Learning Center. Our specific camp was called Mt. Washington. We got to meet a lot of new people from a lot of different places. There were people there from Pasco, Colville, Oroville, Leavenworth, and Bellevue. At the camp, they put the 36 of us into 3 different councils. I was put in council 3 with Athena and 10 other people. We basically started doing activities right off the bat. There was a kid named Kegan from Leavenworth who sprained it ankle. It was the big deal of the day. He seems to be a pretty cool guy. We also played a game called Bunko, which I had never played before...it was so much fun. The first day was pretty uneasy considering that we didn't know hardly anybody and everything just felt like a whole new world.
Monday - August 1, 2005
On Monday, the theme of the day throughout the camp was human relations. The day kind of felt like school mostly because we moved around to different stations all day, but it was still a BLAST! Our council really got a chance to grow and we really started to work well together. We 'line dances' which was pretty fun. It was an okay day.
Tuesday - August 2, 2005
Tuesday was one of the best days at the camp. The theme of the day throughout the camp was organization. At that point in time, our council really seemed to connect. We went about our normal stations in the morning and we had to plan an assembly in the afternoon. Four of the guys in our council, Kegan, Eric, Nicolas, and my self got to practice a cheerleading skit. It was so much fun. It was AWESOME! We performed our assemblies at night but they didn't go to well. Luckily, we only had one error and the staff decided to give us a second chance to re-do them the next night. We also had this pretty cool ice cream sundae competition. We had to get into a group of six and which ever group could build the nicest looking, appropriately weighed, and fastest sundae won. Then we all got to share it. It was huge and delicious but our group didn't win. I also got a chance to b.s. with Mike for a while. It was pretty cool. We talked for like an hour about basically just ASB stuff. It was nice because we hadn't really had the chance to do this before. I feel like I am able to connect with everyone in my group pretty well except for like Dorian...and maybe Jen. Over time, we should be able to build stronger relationships. This day was really pretty AWESOME and very comforting!
Wednesday - August 3, 2005
On Wednesday, the theme throughout the camp was decision making. It was a pretty good day as well. Things went about by spending time working in councils. We had to re-plan our assemblies and we completed an hour long service project in the woods. I kind of realized I liked somebody but I won't say who. We all had to dress up for a nice dinner and then we re-performed our assemblies. We got to watch the junior councilors perform skits and we got a lot of free time to just mingle. It was a nice last full day.
Thursday - August 4, 2005
Today, was the last day of camp. We did a little work in our councils and our school groups. We left by late morning concluding an awesome week at camp. It was definitely a priceless experience. It was everything I thought it was going to be and then some. I would for sure do it again if I had the chance.
