So I have been a busy bee this year. Just before the end of last year I quit my job and went back to school. I know, I thought I would be done with it too. Still, I think I have a shot at being an art or woodshop teacher in a local school district. It will provide me with exactly the right income and I really enjoy teaching. I am a pedant at heart. First semester was enjoyable. I got four A's and one B. I never felt stressed out, and I only truly bombed one project.
During the summer I got a job delivering Pizza. Not working during the school year rocked. I won't get to do that again unfortunately, but it did give me a lot of time to focus on my schoolwork. In April I started a new art project. I have about thirty pages of a pretty decent graphic novel penciled but I probably won't work on it seriously until next summer. :( Speaking of which, by this time next year I will be a credentialed art teacher. I hope to find work in Davis or Dixon, but Woodland and Elk Grove would be okay too. Elk Grove is a bit of a commute, but it has the best benefits in the area and the traffic is not too bad.
Most recently we just moved into a smaller apartment. This will help with our electricity bill as well as our rent. Cramming all of our stuff into this tiny apartment took all of my tetris skills. Even so, I'm not perfectly happy with the results. I am happy with my desk. I have had an awesome desk, which opens up like a school desk allowing for tons of storage. (Which is good.) But it makes a pretty poor computer desk as putting a monitor on the desktop disallows the use of the top opening hidey-holes. So I have put a shelf in the wall and attached my monitor to the shelf, upside down. It's awesome. Now I can keep my entire desk clear. I rock. Maybe I will take a picture and post it. Or not. Too much work.
