Holiday update from Venice

May 06, 2007 15:37

I am half way though my first holiday adventuring out of the large country we like to call Australia.

First week:
This was spend in London with Daev and Laura Courtney. We were lucky to have a very genorouice friend (Laura Firman) who kindly let all us three stay in her 2 bedroom appartment with her flatmate Ad. Her home was in East London which gave us a great taste of the 'real London' - as aposed to the tourist side.
Meeting my sister (Krystelle) and brother-in-law's (Brent) one day old baby was my high light of this trip! Oliver was the cutest thing I have ever seen. I saw them 6 out of the 7 days I was there and they were doing really well with there first.
Daev and I sawe alot of famous and inpriring artworks, I traveled to Portsmith with Laura Firman (which was beautiful) and we all went to the markets in Notting Hill and another place I don't remember the name of - but there were real punks there!

Second Week:
The first 2 days Daev and I spend together in Berlin. Berlin was awesome! so many good little things about Berlin - especialy the history of the area. Daev and I got to stand on Hitlers grave.
Just before we left Berlin I got a tattoo, it simbolises the relationship with me and my brothers and sister - 4 hearts on my left ankel.
Daev and I took the night train from Berlin to Paris where we met up with Steve.
None of us where taken by Paris, so we disided to leave a little early - don't get me wrong though, the Art was great! We saw loads of Art!
The three of us made an early trip to Nimes. We were instantly taken back by its natural beauty.
The hostel we stay at was wonderful! and we did tourist business there - the Arena was the best, with all its history on the Gladiators etc.

Third week:
From Nimes we took the train to Nice. Imidiatly shocked by the amount of hotels and tourists everwhere we were a little worried, But our hostel wasn't very far from the Old Nice which was great. It was cold and rained for the first time while we where there.
Taking a 8 hour crappy train from Nice to Venice was not fun, but we made it only about 1 1/2 hours late.
Venice is really unlike anything else in the world - a city in water. It is beautiful here, the food is great - but almost everything here is expencive. We all lit a candle today in Saint Stefen's Chuch for our familys :)

Today the three of us are taking the train to Florence.

- I miss Ollie (Oliver), Krystellle, Brent, Courntey and Firman
- I am spending alot of money on just living - Paris was the most expencive place (I spent $8 on a 300ml coke!)
- Daev, Steve and I are all having the best time together
- I miss Auslan
