Nick, I'm sure you're a brilliant guy and this has probably occured to you before...but its worth another shot. Perhaps the problem with people is actually your perception of them. Now, the punks who you work with, I'm sure their problem is surely immaturity but maybe you could change your perspective about other people. Like, instead of being suspicious or automatically assuming you won't like someone or someone won't like you, try to smile. At the very least, it will catch them offguard, judging from the "angry military guy" character you've built for yourself.

I agree younger kids who don't know their place is irritating. Unfortunately, getting pissed with them won't help. They don't respect people nowadays. The only way to work with them is to get them to respect you. I'm not sure how to do that exactly yet, but I do have some advice that you might try. People like people who like them. Its as simple as that. Don't be a suck-up, of course. But...try to compliment someone once a week. Or offer to do something nice unexpectedly. Even if you REALLY REALLY REALLY don't want to. Even if that person you'd rather kill as soon as look at. Try it and see what happens. I think you'll be pleasantly suprised.

Of course, apologizing is also key...but I'm pretty prideful and I often refuse to eat crow when I think I'm right.

Hope things get better for you.
Michelle
