It's absolutely ridiculous... these "powers"... I don't think a cat can be a superhero anyway.

Well, I'm not opposed to the idea, but this wouldn't have been my first choice... or even my second, for that matter. I would have been much happier if I could have remembered some of my artes instead.
Those "little things" are confetti. It's usually made out of scraps of brightly colored paper, and people toss it up into the air during celebrations.

My magic power is that I'm turning into someone's science experiment.
To be specific... I'm turning into a cat, nya. [Cat ears twitch in annoyance.] I can only imagine that "nya" is some language's translation of the noise a cat will make when it cries.
Yes, confetti is generally used during joyous occasions, so it's probably the perfect ability for you.
