huh. Live Journal eh?

Man I forgot this place still existed *_* Just forgot about reading friend's posts let alone making posts of mine own. Let me give the quickest and dirtiest rant about the cornerstones of the last couple of months.

New Roof.
we had a leak coming into the living room ceiling that was discovered in the last week of November. We contracted Sears on Nov 27 to take care of it. Long story short, after much bumbling involving delays and no return calls, the roof in finally done as of the 2nd to last week of JANUARY. I guess the main moral here is don't expect to get a roof done in the dead of winter because it needs to be at least 40 degrees for the glue to take. Also it helps to be clairvoyant and know when it'll take 3 weeks to order the style shingles you want. And then don't order them, because it'll take 3 weeks to get them.

Movie run.
The Fantastic Mr. Fox:
Loved the style, the subtle humor deliver, the music, the voice actors, etc. Wes Anderson fits into a children's story mold surprisingly well and should do more. He gives them a very mature dignity that's still whacked out.

The Imaginarium of Dr Parnassus
This one was super weird. It was mostly exhausting watching some of the more forced dialogues between certain characters. Why did Mini-Me have to be in it? I don't regret seeing Heath Ledger's last performance but I certainly don't need to see it again.

Boondock Saints 2: We Use Silencers With Everything
Desert Eagles have silencers? You can silence a magnum pistol? Every problem I had with this movie was just mostly nit picky stuff about guns and my personal perception on how a den of thugs should be properly infiltrated :)

Donnie Darko
Finally saw this movie. I like time travel and I really liked the sound track in this one.

I know Kung Fu-
Or parts of it anyway. I started taking Hung Gar Kung Fu at the behest of my martially inclined friends. It's been a real lesson in endurance, lemme tell you. It's probably been the best work out I've had, and it's without any actual equipment. The forms have particularly interesting names such as Arrow Hand, Fist of the Five Ancestors, and Taming the Tiger. The most punishing aspect is in the stances we have to do in the beginning. Imagine sitting in a low chair and do a squat, except there's no chair. And then hold it forever. That's merely a taste...
It's not as immediate and to-the-point as Nick H's Israeli business, but I still enjoy learning the history and culture of it, plus our teacher (Sifu=master) is a total comic culture nerd. Too bad he'll be moving to Arizona at the end of Spring. He's slated to get a high paying job as a 2nd in command chef at a country club and he's got to move his whole family there. Oh well. I just have to treat this like a once in a lifetime semester course.

Mommy Issues.
My long lost mother is coming to St Louis on Feb 20th and I get to see what the other half of my genetic hybridization looks like. I also get to learn the Truth(tm) too.

Then there's this. I need to draw more and I've said it before but this time I want to stick with it. I really like how it records your progress too...

I did this one for Steve because I decided I didn't like how the other Sakura looked anymore! Okay Scott, time to finally get some graffiti on your page too :D
