Okay... you're one of my best friends, so I guess it's only fair you should know.

Basically, about three years ago my cousin Mystic Maya was in court for murder. Only she didn't really do it, it was someone else trying to get revenge on the victim. But my mother set it up and went to prison for it. I still went to visit her after that, because she's my mother and I knew that she loved me a lot, but... one day about two years ago when I went to visit she gave me a letter and told me to follow all the instructions in it. Luckily I couldn't read very well and someone else read the letter apart from me, because... i-it was a plan that would have killed Mystic Maya and made my mother's branch of the Fey family - my branch of the Fey family - the ones who would be the head of it. Mystic Maya almost died and I was almost involved in making it happen, and it was all because of my mother.

I know I don't care about being Head of the family, b-but it meant such a lot to my mother and I just didn't know how much and I still don't understand why she did all those things.

Well your mother means a lot to you, just like mine does to me! So it's not fair of her to try and use you to do something like that, when you love her so much!
