B-but! Mr. Edgeworth, this might be the only ball that we can go to! A-and besides, y-you should take a break every once in a while! It isn't good for you to work so much...

I... I'd really like it if you were able to come...

I'm sure there will be other events in the future. My time is valuable, though, and at this point I can't afford to spend it socializing. You...understand that the job I do is important, correct?

Oh, yes, of course I do! I-It is very important! But... Mr. Edgeworth, I'm sure that there's lots of other prosecutors... I'm sure it wouldn't matter if you only went out for one night? It's only for a few hours, after all.

...

Mr. Edgeworth, I hope this isn't rude, and I hope you don't mind me asking, but... how much work do you usually do?

How much...? I do what's needed. Every trial involves participating in the investigation, witness interviews, familiarizing oneself with the details of the case and the evidence; and there is paperwork to complete at the close of every one.

You've been with Wright during his cases; the work I do is similar. Unlike Wright, however, my work is steady and consistent. Each prosecutor should be able to handle their own workload.

...I could get a great deal of work done in a few hours.

... Wow! Y-you really do work a lot, don't you, Mr. Edgeworth?!

... Still, since you normally do so much work... I'm sure that that would make up for the few hours you spent with us, wouldn't it? I-it's really, really great that you're so dedicated, b-but still...

I know! You could get Mr. Scruffy Detective to fill you in on what you've missed, right?

...

Detective Gumshoe's time would be better spent doing his own work, rather than overseeing mine.

...Did Wright put you up to this?

What? Mr. Nick? No, of course not! I-in fact, I was the one who suggested it to him...

...And what did he say when you suggested it?

Um, well.... he was a little rude at first, but he said he'd ask you for me... he didn't seem to think that you'd come, though...

Wright knows me well. Too well. Perhaps he's finally learning to respect the fact that my time is valuable.

M-maybe... but! Time with friends is valuable as well! Please, Mr. Edgeworth... it wouldn't be the same without you there! You don't have to stay for the whole night if you don't want to...

I'm sure my presence wouldn't improve the event by that much. You'll have Wright and Maya to spend the time with.

W-well, yes, but I see them almost every day! I hardly ever see you! Of course you being there would make it better!

...My presence would mean that much to you?
