Theatre review: Mixed Up North (+ Celia Imrie cake madness)

Dec 03, 2009 23:58

Oh all right, I'll do a review of the play as well, but mainly I want to get to the very exciting thing that happened during the play: The sort of thing that some people on my flist, especially those of a lowcultural persuasion, will be very jealous of; and some people, especially the Americans and other aliens, will stare at the screen blankly.

I never did actually; it was a few years ago now and I wasn't going to the theatre much at the time. Plus I'd heard it was (a) very overpriced and (b) disappointing. So I stayed away, and now stick to occasionally watching the original Acorn Antiques on YouTube.

Haha there's always something exciting about Celia Imrie. A few months ago I tweeted a sleb spot that I'd seen her in the street and people got very excited for that, let alone throwing cake into the equation.

The cake was a sort of vanilla sponge I think, rather nice. It was shop-bought of course, playing the role of a home-made cake, but it's all acting, darling. After all we know La Imrie isn't really a youth group leader either. In real life she runs an antique shop as any fule no.

I was there the other week for a post show gala for LAMDA, taking photos for them. I'll try and post some later.
Most of the cast was LAMDA - Stephanie Street is brilliant

Babs Babs Babs! Very jealous.

I also saw Celia Imrie on the Underground, on the Circle Line at Notting Hill Gate. I was embarrassingly exciting.

Well you never know, maybe she looked back at you and found you embarrassingly exciting. I mean I wouldn't be surprised if she turned out to be a bit of a goer.

I am so jealous! The effects of proximity to a star can be quite delicious.

Doubly so when you throw in proximity to cake.
