Now, things get a bit more interesting.

As some of you will know, I got a sixty hertz humb for christmas, when I got my Heil PR22. Until today, I thought that the humb was being caused by a problem with the lines, as plugging my Sennheiser E835 into the same jacks caused an identical hum. Well, Yesterday, Dad decided to buy me a UPS (which I no longer have), that has power conditioning functions, I.E. Line filtering.

We set it up, and oo looky. Same hum, but also some residual hum from the mixer I did not notice before. After connecting all power strips to each other and pulling the UPS out, eliminating most causes of a ground loop, it disappeared. Mic preamps were still humming with the Heil though. When I plugged the Sennheiser in, however...the hum disappeared. So Dad fixed a problem, and exposed another.

Looks like it's time to see what Bob Heil or one of his associates thinks of all this. More details as they happen.
