Sunday night I had the great thrill of attending my very first Marilyn Manson concert. He and his band and crew put on an excellent show. It's hard to describe the energy of it; so much more than most concerts I've been to, and I've been to a lot. The audience was enthralled but not distant or separate from the performance; there was a subtle but definite feedback. It made me miss doing live theater.
It was an honor and a pleasure to meet them and some of their friends afterwards. Everyone made my date and I feel very welcome, and the scenery was as fine as the company. I ended up taking Stella as my date. She's the granddaughter of a friend of mine, a big Manson fan, and a grad student in Sociology. She mentioned that she might do her Master's Thesis on the societal impact and importance of MM, which I think is an excellent idea.
I think I need to take Manson & Co. to a Lakers game soon.
