As Steve and I get more and more in to enjoying firearms, it's kinda become apparent that we need to learn how to load or reload our own ammo, especially with the swiftly soaring ammo prices. .22 is about the only thing that's staying affordable in any quantity.
So I present to you, the humble beginnings of our reloading bench. Yes, it's built strong enough to put a big block V8(at least) on and is entirely 2x4, 2x6 and 4x4 construction. Perhaps overkill, but believe it or not it was cheaper to build it this way than using any form of plywood. $23 for a 1/4" piece of generic, crappy looking plywood (unusable in this application that thin, anyways)... or 3 2x6 boards for $3/each. Hmm... my inner rocket scientist is having trouble calculating the savings, there. :P
We took our office closet, removed the doors and stowed them inside, then built a 24x52x28 bench to mount the reloading turret and shelving on. More than enough support to keep the turret solidly planted. All the stuff under it is just stored there temporarily and will be going elsewhere once appropriate shelving is created.
Currently featured on top the bench is my 1941 Mosin Nagant 91/30, Steve's Winchester Model 94 30-30, my WPG paintball marker and an ammo can full of 7.62x54r along with a bunch of empty brass.
