Summary : Tegoshi obsessed with one name since he was young and believe that person is his soulmate.
A/N : based from one of my fave movies titled “
Only You” starring Marissa Tomei and Robert Downey Jr. I just watched it again recently and realized how much I love the story and thought it would be great to use it for fanfic. This is another Tegoshi-centric. and this time it’s un-beta-ed so please excuse any grammar bugs or simple English that I used.
It’s Just A Name
In a quiet living room, two boys were sitting on the floor as they faced each other. An
ouija board placed neatly on the table between them. It’s not really an ouija board actually; it’s just a blank white paper with numbers from 0 to 9, letters from A to Z and a “YES” and a “NO” written upon it. Silence passed by the minutes, both of them held their breaths away. Both were concentrated calling the spirit to appear and suddenly the coin in their hands shook and moved a little.
“Kei-chan, don’t move your hand!” shrieked 12 years old Tegoshi Yuya to his cousin in front of him.
“I don’t move it!” denied 15 years old Koyama Keiichiro.
“You lie! Obachan, Kei-chan moves his hand!” yelled the younger boy, head tilted to the back as if he was trying to talk to Koyama’s mother who was cooking in the kitchen.
“Keiichiro, don’t move your hand!” responded Koyama’s mother from the kitchen, her voice echoed in the living room.
“I don’t move it! It moves itself! Look!” Koyama’s eyes pointed at the movement of the coin between their hands.
“It comes … wow!” mesmerized Tegoshi, starting to believe the coin did really move itself.
“Yes! She answered us!” chirped Koyama happily.
“SHE? How can you be so sure? What if it’s a HE?” stoned head Tegoshi asked.
“Well, you asked about your future soulmate, didn’t you? Then … then it’s must be a she. I think female spirits love romantic thingy.” answered Koyama uncertainly, hoping his cousin would stop asking questions.
“Souka.”
“Psstt, silence, look, it’s pointing to a certain name now. Go write it down.” instructed the older boy. Tegoshi followed the order and started scribbling the letters that moved from one to another in a piece of letter.
“Y … A …N … oh no, it moves to M instead … A …S … H … I … T … A.” Koyama helped Tegoshi spelling the letters. Tegoshi read the name and a question look showed in his face.
“Kei-chan, Yamashita is a very common surname, how can I find her?” sulked the younger boy.
“Pssttt, you are so noisy! Look! It moves again! Go write it again. It starts with a T … then an O …M … O … H … I … S … A. Oh, it stops! Phew! Got them all?” Koyama shifted his eyes from the board to Tegoshi who finished writing everything, and reading the name on the paper in his hand. He shook his head in despair.
“Kei-chan!! It’s a boy’s name!” frowned Tegoshi.
“Eh uso! Let me read!” Koyama grabbed the paper from Tegoshi’s hand.
“Uhm, Yamashita Tomohisa ne? It’s indeed a boy’s name.” giggled Koyama.
“It’s not funny! I’m not gheiii!”
“Well, how can you be sure you are not? Let’s take a test. Do you like super heroes’ manga or anime?”
Tegoshi nodded excitedly and innocently.
“Do you like seeing the handsome face and their fine muscled body?”
Again, Tegoshi nodded excitedly and still innocently.
“There you go, you are officially a gay.” declared Koyama with victorious smile pasted on his face
Tegoshi fainted.

2 weeks later.
Being surrounded with ocean of people in a natsu matsuri, Tegoshi couldn’t find his dear cousin Koyama. He almost cried. He hated the fact that he was lost in a natsu matsuri. He hated being alone. He walked looking for him for almost an hour and still not successful. He took a rest in front a small tent. Suddenly the red curtain behind him was opened, and a scary obasan with overly Gypsian style came out. He didn’t realize he was standing in front of a fortune teller stall.
“Next!” called the obasan with tired tone. Tegoshi looked around; there was no one else but him.
“Eh, me?” he pointed to himself.
“YES YOU! Who else?”
“But, I’m not …”
“GET IN!” barked the scary obasan, it’s more like an order, and Tegoshi had no choice but followed her inside.
“So what do you want Madame Rosa to see?” started the obasan while looking the big ball made of glass on the small table. Her hands were dancing around the ball.
“Uhm I don’t know.” answered Tegoshi hesitantly, he didn’t feel comfortable at all. He just wished it would end as quickly as possible.
“Let me see your future then.”
“Okay.”
“Uhm, I see you in the future, you will turn into fine man. You will lose your chubby cheek, and you will be very fashionable.”
“Really?” Tegoshi started to feel excited.
“I saw you with another person, your lover. He is also a very good looking man. He is tall and has nice body.”
“Eh, a man?”
“Yeah, any problem with that?” snapped Madame Rosa with a glare.
“No no, it’s ok.”
“Don’t ruin my concentration! Ahhh, I see a name, the name of your future lover. His name is Yamashita. YES! YAMASHITA TOMOHISA!” grinned Madame Rosa.
“USO!!!” Tegoshi began to freak out. He got up from the seat and ready to run. But Madame Rosa’s hand stopped his action.
“You owe me 200 yen, boy!”
Tegoshi gulped. He quickly reached his pocket and passed the money to Madame Rosa. Then he ran out the small smelly tent. He forgot looking for his cousin, he just wanted to go home and forget that name. Yamashita Tomohisa, the name that haunted him for the last two weeks.

8 years later.
20 years old Tegoshi Yuya stood in front of the mirror in his bedroom. He just arrived home from a shopping day with his best friend Kato Shigeaki, also 20 years old. Both of them possessed the same fashion sense. And Madame Rosa premonition was someway came true. Tegoshi indeed lost his chubby cheek and turned into good looking guy. He always got people mistaken him for someone else, saying that he had changed his face, and thought he was having plastic surgery which of course he denied.
Like high school girls, two of them tried on the clothes that they just bought. They praised each other taste of fashion. After an hour, Shigeaki or Shige for short, finished all his clothes and rested him self in the couch, while Tegoshi tried on the new tuxedo.
“Ne ne, Shige, how do I look?”
“It looks nice on you, but why buying the new one?”
“You see, Massu invited me to a posh wedding party in a 5 stars hotel this weekend, so he told me to buy a new one, on his account of course.”
“Ii ne, you have a nice boyfriend.” Shige couldn’t help his jealously.
“Yeah, I’m just lucky I guess.” replied Tegoshi casually.
“He even already asked you to move in with him.”
“Well, I haven’t replied him about it yet.”
“Why not? If Kei asked me, I would definitely say yes.” pouted Shige.
“Ehh really? I will talk to Kei-chan about that if you want.” concerned Tegoshi.
He felt somehow guilty. He was the one who introduced Shige to Koyama. They have been dating for two years already and lately he realized Shige spent more time with him rather than with his boyfriend.
“DON’T! I don’t want to make a big deal about it. Maybe he’s not ready yet.”
“I still think you have to have a nice talk with him about it.”
“It won’t be a nice talk. I know he doesn’t want to have a strong commitment yet. Anyway, isn’t it Massu’s phone?” as Shige pointed to the phone that lay on the table.
“Yeah, he left it accidentally last night. He told me to answer his phone if it’s ringing because he’s on another yet business trip, and want me to direct any important calls to his hotel in Kyoto.”
“Ehh, he let you to see his phone and even answer his calls?”
“Well, he said he has nothing to hide with me.”
“Ii ne, you are so lucky, Tegoshi.”
Before Tegoshi could reply, the phone on the table vibrated then a ringtone of “Miso Soup” was heard all over the room. Tegoshi saw the screen, and it flashed an unregistered number. He opened and answered it anyway, incase it was a call from Massu’s business related.
“Moshi moshi?”
“Moshi moshi! Taka? It’s me Tomo.”
“Ah chigau, this is not Masuda Takahisa, my name is Tegoshi Yuya. He left his phone in here and asked me to answer it.”
“Ahh, you are the famous boyfriend of Taka then.”
“Well yeah, anyway is there any message for Massu?”
“Ouw yes please, can you please tell Taka that Yamashita Tomohisa can’t join Nakamaru Yuichi’s wedding this weekend, I’m having a business trip to Bali.” Tegoshi scribbled the name of the caller on a piece of paper quickly, unlike Shige, he has a bad memory.
“Okay, I will tell him, Yamashita Tomohisa-san.”
He always repeated everything he’s written incase he wrote it wrongly. Massu was a nice boyfriend, but if he got mad, he would get really scary, and ignored Tegoshi for days. And Tegoshi didn’t want to make any mistake that day. And suddenly he realized something when he said the name again.
YAMASHITA TOMOHISA? MASAKA?
All of a sudden, Tegoshi couldn’t breath. His hand was trembling until the phone was dropped on the soft carpet. Shige quickly grabbed it and passed it to Tegoshi again. He knew about that famous name as both Tegoshi and Koyama told him. He had been following the conversation ever since he heard Tegoshi mentioned his name, he was curious aswell.
“Moshi moshi? Moshi moshi? Tegoshi-san?” Yamashita’s voice was heard once Tegoshi put the phone on his right ear again, trying to catch his breath.
“Hai, I’m here. Ano, you said your name is Yamashita Tomohisa. Is that true?”
“Yes, but everyone call me Yamapi.”
Tegoshi mouthed, “It’s really him!” to Shige in panic way, Shige responded in small voice to ask where he was. Tegoshi nodded, he almost forgot to ask the most important thing. He was thankful to have smart Shige with him in a crucial moment like this.
“Ahh yes, Yamapi-san, where are you now?”
“I’m at Narita airport now. My flight to Bali will depart in an hour.”
“Ehh that soon? Where will you stay? Incase Massu wants to contact you.” for once Tegoshi could use his brain.
“Sanur Beach Hotel. Ehh, I have to check in, so see you later Tegoshi-san. Bye bye.”
“Ehh chotto matte …” Tegoshi tried to keep the call going but Yamapi already hang up, he was in hurry obviously.
“Ahh damn, he hang up! Shigeeeee, doushiyouuuuu?” whined Tegoshi desperately, still holding Massu’s phone.
“Try calling him again!” suggested Shige and Tegoshi dialed the number from received call register, he only heard an operator message saying the number was either inactive or outside the service area.
“He already shut his phone! Shige, I’m going!” Tegoshi grabbed his wallet.
“Ehh where to?”
“Airport! I have to meet him!”
“But it’s just a name, he’s a total stranger! More over, he is Massu’s friend!”
“But Shige, what if he was really my soulmate?”
Shige was speechless. He wasn’t a destiny believer or such things. He believed something rational and logical, he wasn’t a dreamer, but Tegoshi was one.
“Shige, wish me luck!” Tegoshi didn’t wait for Shige’s answer and run out the apartment and whistled a taxi to Narita Airport.
Unfortunately Tegoshi was late for only 5 minutes. He watched the JAL plane to Bali flying. He failed. He couldn’t meet with the owner of the name that he had been looking for 8 long years. He couldn’t meet his soulmate.
***
But Tegoshi didn’t give up that easily, he wasn’t a quitter.
“Shige, I missed his plane, but I already booked the next flight to Bali.” said Tegoshi excitedly over the phone, he didn’t care people at the airport started looking at him as he was still wearing a tuxedo.
“YOU WHAT? That’s very impulsive action, Tegoshi!”
“I really really really have to see him, Shige! This is my chance yo! Will you help me on this? Onegaiiiii!”
“Lucky, I can’t see your face. I don’t want to see your puppy begging eyes. So what do you want me to do?”
“Yay, I know you can’t say no to me hehe. Please find my passport at the drawer in my bedroom, and pack me few clothes, pick something casual, I heard Bali is a tropical island.”
“Okay okay, do you need pack of condoms too?” annoyed Shige, suddenly regretted his decision to help his best friend.
“Shige!! It’s not time to joke! Hurry! My flight will depart in 2 hours!”
“Okay, wait for me.”
“Oh Shige, don’t forget my hair dryer too!”
***
It turned out Shige insisted to tag along Tegoshi’s adventure on finding the man that he believed to be his soulmate. He was worried about his best friend. Tegoshi has never been alone in a journey. He even couldn’t pack his own suitcase. Shige didn’t want Tegoshi to get himself into trouble or doing anything stupid that he would regret later.
“Ne Shige, do you tell Kei-chan that you come along?”
“No.” replied Shige shortly.
“Why not?”
“I need time to be alone and think about my relationship with Kei. And most of all, I need a holiday.”
Tegoshi nodded, he wanted to ask more but Shige already dozed off, or at least pretended to sleep. He didn’t want to talk about it and Tegoshi respected his decision. Tegoshi promised himself to talk to Koyama after the trip was over. He didn’t like to butt in anyone’s business especially love life, but he treasured both of them, and they used to be so madly in love before, there must have been still hope for their relationship.
They arrived in Ngurah Rai Airport in Bali around 7 pm. Tegoshi began to feel lucky that Shige joined along on this trip because Shige could speak English, at least much better than him. Tegoshi just learnt that Bali actually situated in Indonesia, he always thought Bali was an independent country. Everyone there spoke Indonesian language, a language that Tegoshi never heard before. But being a famous tourist island, almost everyone could speak English too.
The taxi driver took them to Sanur Beach Hotel. Tegoshi nudged Shige to check in, Shige grumbled, saying that Tegoshi should be grateful to have him there.
“Yes sir, may I help you?” a middle aged man greeted them politely.
“We would like to have a room please.” replied Shige in fair English, Tegoshi looked at him proudly.
“Ah okay, but unfortunately almost all rooms are booked, how about a suite room?”
“No problem.”
“Okay, wait please.”
The receptionist was back to the counter a moment later with a key and some forms they needed to sign in. Shige signed those forms, got the key, and ready to rest in the room before Tegoshi nudged him once again.
“Ask about Yamashita-san!” mouthed Tegoshi. Shige sighed, but he did return to the counter and faced the receptionist once again.
“Yes sir, is there anything wrong?”
“Uhm, we would like to know which room that Mr. Yamashita Tomohisa stays?”
“We are friends.” added Tegoshi in broken English.
“Let me check first, sir.”
The receptionist typed something on his computer, but after a while a sound of “beep” was heard. Shige could sense something was wrong.
“Ah, sorry sir, he already checked out.”
“Ehhh, nande???” shrieked Tegoshi in despair.
“Anoo, can you please check again? He just checked in this noon.” asked Shige again.
The receptionist began to feel unpleasant with their nagging request. But he typed something in his computer once again, and the result was still the same with the same sound of “beep”. He shook his head.
“Sorry sir, I have double checked, he’s not in this hotel anymore.”
“NOOOOOOOOOO!” cried out Tegoshi with both hands on his face.
“Are you sure?” Shige still couldn’t believe it either.
“If you don’t believe me, sir, he stayed in room 409 and this is the key, see?” the man showed Shige the key number, and Shige finally nodded. But he didn’t give up, not yet.
“Do you know where he went after he checked out? Please! This is very important, especially for my friend here. We came all the way from Tokyo to see him.” pleaded Shige while calming Tegoshi.
“I see. Please wait, maybe my colleague can inform you about that.” He went inside and came out again with a girl wearing neat hotel uniform.
“Excuse me sir, you asked about Yamashita-san?” asked the girl to Shige, Tegoshi was still sobbing in his chest.
“Yes, do you know where he headed from this hotel?”
“I don’t know, but he asked me to dial this number. Lucky I still have this paper.” Tegoshi lifted his head, wiped his tears and said, “Shige, chance yo!” Shige ignored him and talked to the girl again.
“Can you please check the number?”
“This is the number of a clothing shop in Kuta area, I can write you the address, but I think it’s already closed at this hour.”
“Never mind, we will check the address tomorrow. Thank you so much for your help.”
“Your welcome sir, please enjoy your stay here.” smiled the girl.
Tegoshi whispered something to Shige and he cringed upon hearing his request. Tegoshi clasped his hands and mouthed, “Onegaiiii!” with his best puppy eyes. Of course Shige could never resist it.
“Anoo miss, can you tell us how is Yamashita-san look like?”
“Oh, he is a very handsome and tall man, sir. He looks like an idol rather than a business man.”
“Thank you.” replied Shige with red face, feeling embarrassed to ask such a question to girl like that. He gave Tegoshi a deadly glare, but the smaller boy was just too busy in his own little world imagining how Yamashita Tomohisa would look like.
***
The next day, Tegoshi and Shige headed to Kuta area to find the clothing shop which Yamapi had a phone call with yesterday. They arrived at the shop and welcomed by a pretty girl who apparently to be the shop assistant.
“Welcome! May I help you, sir?” greeted the girl warmly. Once again, Tegoshi nudged Shige to do the talking, he could understand English, but he wasn’t confident enough for conversation, he began to regret for not taking English classes in high school seriously.
“Yes, in matter of fact, we are looking for someone.” replied Shige.
“Oh, may I know the name then?”
“Yamashita Tomohisa, do you know him? He made a phone call to this shop yesterday.”
“Eh dia? Bajingan brengsek itu? Gue benci dia! Gue gak mau ketemu lagi ama dia!” (Indonesian language, literally translated : “Eh, him? That damn bastard? I hate him! I don’t want to see him again!”)
Both Shige and Tegoshi exchanged looks, confused why the girl suddenly turned so upset and cursed in Indonesian, they didn’t understand it, but from the way she said it, it sounded like a curse indeed.
“Ah, I’m sorry! Why are you looking for him?” the girl has got back her senses again.
“My friend here has a little business with him.”
“Uhm, actually I don’t want to deal with him anymore, but whenever he visits Bali he would have dinner at Warung Made restaurant. Just tell the waitress, he’s quite famous there, I’m sure they will tell you where he is.”
“Thank you so much for your help, miss.”
“No problem.”
They bowed to the girl as sign of appreciation and quickly dashed out the shop. Still a bit shock with the sudden action the girl made when she heard his name.
“That was really scary.” started Tegoshi as they took a taxi back to the hotel.
“Yeah! Tegoshi, don’t you think it’s weird the girl went ballistic when she heard his name? What if that Yamashita guy is a maniac?”
“No way, he sounded really nice and funny in the phone. Maybe she’s just a fan with unrequited love. Besides Massu won’t have a maniac friend!”
“Speaking of Massu, have you talked to him?”
A slight pause. Tegoshi didn’t answer right away. A look of guilt began to form on his face.
“He called me yesterday, a bit panic when I said I have a holiday with you in Bali.”
“Who wouldn’t? That was impulsive action.” sighed Shige.
“But you tag along anyhow!”
“It’s because I’m worried about you!”
“Yes, I know, but you haven’t told Kei-chan either ne?”
Shige was speechless. He shifted his seat to the window and looked at the scenery, avoiding Tegoshi. He didn’t want to answer such a troublesome question. He still needed time to think about it.
“I’m sorry Shige. I’m so selfish, I only think of myself. You have a problem yourself, but you still want to help me in this journey.”
“It’s ok, but you have to be honest with Massu. He doesn’t deserve this.”
“I promise. I will tell him everything later.”
***
Later that night, Tegoshi dressed in his best outfit that he could find in the suitcase that Shige packed for him. He wanted to look good when he met the man he was destined to be his soulmate. They arrived at Warung Made restaurant in Kuta area around 7 PM. Shige once again asked Yamapi whereabouts to the waiter near the entrance. Tegoshi waited in the patio area outside the restaurant nervously.
“Shige, is he really here?” asked Tegoshi once Shige returned to him.
“Yeah, the waiter said he sits near the back door, go greet your soulmate.” replied Shige with a smile, feeling relieved that soon their adventure would end, and they all could fly back to Japan. He couldn’t deny that he already missed Koyama that much.
Tegoshi took a deep breath before heading inside the restaurant, he was about to turn right when he bumped to a waiter caused him to drop the plates he was carrying in his hands to the floor. Sound of breaking plates was echoed all over the restaurant. Tegoshi went red and immediately uttered apologies. The manager approached them and calmed everyone not to worry. Out of panic, Tegoshi’s eyes glanced at the table where Yamapi supposed to sit, and found an empty chair instead with a waitress cleaned the table. But he caught a shadow of a man walking out the back door wearing dark blue suit. Without thinking further, Tegoshi ran for him.
Kuta street was always packed of people, walking from every directions, Tegoshi lost Yamapi’s shadow in mere seconds. But he didn’t care. He kept running, hoping he could see his back again. He stumbled into someone, their shoulders hit to each other.
“Hey, watch out!” angered the man he bumped with annoyed tone.
“Sumimasen!” mumbled Tegoshi nonchalantly and continue running.
The man was still grumbling and nursing his shoulder when he saw a shoe lay in the street, Tegoshi lost his shoe, but he didn’t realize it. The man collected Tegoshi’s shoe and looked for him. Even if Tegoshi was rude, he still needed his shoe and helping another Japanese wouldn’t hurt, thought the man.
Tegoshi finally gave up after he felt his feet started to sore, he lost his shoe and most of all he lost the man he was frantically looking for. Tears run down without he realized it. He carried his other shoe in his hand and walked back to the restaurant in barefoot.
Shige who had waited for him shoot him with questions once Tegoshi sat beside him. Traces of tears still easily showed on his damp face, his cheeks tinged pink shadow from the exhaustion after running for quite a while.
“Tegoshi, where have you been? Did u find him? What happened to your shoes?” panicked Shige. Tegoshi didn’t say any words. He was hurt, tired and emotionally down. And Shige’s questions didn’t help his pain away. He ignored Shige and began to sob again. Shige was speechless. He didn’t know how to comfort his best friend anymore. He just stayed by his side and patted Tegoshi’s shoulder. He could only sense this would be the end of their adventure.
But Shige was wrong, it just about to re-start. A man ran towards them, a shoe in his hand.
“You Cinderella, you lost a shoe.” started the man under his breath, pointing to Tegoshi. Shige was thankful that man was also Japanese, he was tired speaking English.
“Arigatou.” replied Shige since Tegoshi still sulked and refused to say anything.
“What the hell was wrong with him?” asked the man curiously.
“Please pardon his rudeness. He just lost the sight of his soulmate.”
“Well, what’s her name? I have been here for a while, I know most people here and I can speak some locals too.”
“Not HER name, but HIS name, it’s a SHE not a HE.” corrected Shige innocently and received Tegoshi’s glare in return.
“Great, Shige! Now everyone here know that I’m gay! Thank you very much!” snapped Tegoshi sarcastically.
“Nothing wrong being a gay.” smirked the man widely. He suddenly squatted and put on Tegoshi’s shoes carefully. His gentleness made Tegoshi flustered in embarrassment. He quickly stood up and stopped a taxi.
“Thank you, but we have to go now. Shige, ikkou yo!” he called his best friend and slipped himself inside the taxi. Shige shrugged and bowed to the man as sign of apology.
“Hey wait! Just tell me the name. Maybe I can help.”
“Yamashita Tomohisa, he was looking for Yamashita Tomohisa.” replied Shige.
“SHIGE!!” sulked Tegoshi, it was embarrassed enough the man knew he was gay. He didn’t want the stranger man to be further involved with his personal matter.
“Ehh? But I am Yamashita Tomohisa.”
There was a pause of silence. Everyone was shocked, obviously.
“Hontou ni? Yokatta ne, Tegoshi!” rejoiced Shige broke the silence and dragged Tegoshi out from the taxi. Shocking Tegoshi still couldn’t believe the man he was looking for was standing in front of him. He was ashamed as he was so rude to him before.
“Please to meet you Tegoshi, my name is Yamashita Tomohisa.” greeted the man warmly.
“Tegoshi Yuya desu, yoroshiku onegaishimasu.” replied Tegoshi shyly.
***
They spent the rest of the evening walking around Kuta Beach to know each other better, without Shige of course. It was awkward at first, but after a while, they began to feel comfortable and talked freely without any troubles. Tegoshi told him everything about himself, including the ouija board and the fortune teller. Yamapi listened to every word carefully and commented it was destiny for both of them to finally found each other in Bali, the magical island.
They sat in the sand, enjoyed each passing minutes watching the waves dancing against the sea under the beautiful moonlight. Tegoshi shifted his eyes from the sea to the person next to him. He was indeed handsome, with his neat black hair, his deep black eyes, sexy full lips, and tanned skin. He wasn’t as tall as he imagined him before, but it didn’t matter. Maybe Madame Rosa made a little mistake. Tegoshi blushed when Yamapi also looked back at him.
“Nani? Is there something wrong in my face?”
“Iie, betsuni.” replied Tegoshi with red face, looking at his feet. He was nervous and embarrassed.
“Tegoshi listen, I don’t really believe in destiny or things like that. But I’m grateful to be destined as your soulmate. It’s like the best plan that God ever created for me.”
Tegoshi couldn’t believe his own ears, hearing those beautiful words caused him flustered even more. He didn’t dare looking at Yamapi. He buried his face with his hands, tears of joy started streaming down to his pink shadowed cheeks.
“Hey hey, are you crying? Did I scare you?” worried Yamapi.
“N-no Yamashita-kun, I’m just overjoyed.” answered Tegoshi after few moment of silent.
Yamapi cupped Tegoshi’s chin slowly and looked at Tegoshi’s big brown eyes. It’s the most beautiful eyes that Yamapi ever saw in his life. He could feel his heart skipped a beat. Is it what they call love?
“Tegoshi, this is strange, but I think I’m in love with you.”
Tegoshi was surprised with his confession. He thought he was the one who would spill the words first. He was helplessly in love with Yamapi too, he couldn’t deny it.
“T-Thank you Yamashita-kun. Mecha ureshi desu. I love you too.”
Yamapi smiled, feeling happy that Tegoshi also love him in return. It was instant, strange and yet unbelievable at the same time. But love is always like that, you can’t choose who you will fall in love with. Tegoshi rested his head to Yamapi’s boarded shoulder. How he wished time would stop, so he could be together with the man he truly love forever. For eternity.
“Tegoshi …” Yamapi broke the silence.
“Uhm?”
“May I kiss you?” Tegoshi was surprised with Yamapi’s sudden request. He lifted his head and looked Yamapi in confusion.
“Here? Now?” his eyes frantically explored around the beach.
“Don’t worry, they won’t see us.” calmed Yamapi. He was familiar with the beach, at this hours, there wouldn’t be many people hanging out the beach anymore. Well, only few couples, but they were busy with their own things too.
“But still …” the idea of making out in public still a bit frightening for Tegoshi.
“It’s okay if you don’t want it. I don’t want to push you or anything …”
“Is your hotel around here?”
Yamapi couldn’t believe his own luck.
***
They decided to go to Yamapi’s hotel, he had moved from Sanur Beach Hotel to Hard Rock Bali Hotel in Kuta area. Sanur was too boring, explained Yamapi when Tegoshi asked why he changed hotel the day before. Tegoshi just nodded, he tried to calm himself, but he was still nervous, obviously.
Yamapi inserted his key, and he let Tegoshi entered the room first. It was a nice suite room. The view outside the window was amazing, facing the beach down there. Yamapi offered him drinks but Tegoshi shook his head and excused himself to the bathroom instead.
Tegoshi washed his face and placed both hands in the sink. He didn’t know why he trusted Yamapi, a total stranger that he just met for 2 hours. Maybe he was magnetized with his physical attraction. Maybe he was in love. Tegoshi slapped his face with both hands. Ready or not, he already decided that he wanted to be with Yamapi.
Tegoshi found Yamapi already sat in the edge of the bed. Yamapi smiled and signaled Tegoshi to sit next to him. Tegoshi nodded sheepishly, he finally sat, head facing the floor. Yamapi placed a finger to Tegoshi’s chin then slowly leaned forward and finally pressed his own lips to the younger one.
He started it slow and gentle. Tegoshi returned the kiss and shyly opened his mouth to let the older one’s tongue slid inside. The kiss turned deeper and more passionate. Still kissing him intensely, Yamapi laid Tegoshi down to his bed. Tegoshi was panting his breath away, he tugged Yamapi’s shirt. He wanted more. Yamapi broke the kiss, kneeling above Tegoshi, he slowly unbuttoned the younger one’s shirt one by one. He smiled when he saw Tegoshi’s small cute nipples, Tegoshi couldn’t help but blush.
“You are so beautiful, Tegoshi.” whispered Yamapi in his ear. He wanted to explore each inches of Tegoshi. He started it with the back of his neck. He sucked it softly causing Tegoshi moaned, hungry for more. Tegoshi titled his head a little, giving Yamapi more space to explore. Tegoshi shut his eyes. He was ready to give his everything to Yamapi. He embraced Yamapi tightly as if he didn’t want to let him go.
“Tegoshi …” he could hear Yamapi called him between his kisses all over his collarbone.
“Uhm?”
“I have something to tell you.” began Yamapi again without leaving his wet lips from Tegoshi’s skin.
“N-Nani?” shuddered Tegoshi once he felt soft bite on his left nipple.
“I’m not Yamashita Tomohisa.”
“Oh…”
He was still in heaven when suddenly reality stroked him. He opened his eyes, registering every words the man upper him said to him … I’m not Yamashita Tomohisa … he repeated those words in his brain for few seconds until he realized something.
“YOU WHAT???” he shrieked and kicked the older one away from him. Feeling disgusted. He felt ashamed and exposed. He pulled the bed sheet to cover his body.
“I’m sorry …”
“THEN WHO ARE YOU?” he couldn’t help but scream.
“My name is Nishikido Ryo. But it’s just a name, we love each other. I really believe that we are soulmate, I just have the wrong name. I love you, Te-…”
“STOP!!! I don’t want to hear anything!” he closed his ears with both of his hands.
Ryo has never felt this guilty for his entire life. He had lied, but he had no choice. He fell in love with Tegoshi from the first sight. He just wanted to know him better, but Tegoshi was cold and distant. The moment he heard the name of the man of his destined soulmate, he couldn’t help but lie to him. He knew he was wrong, but it was the only way to get Tegoshi’s attention.
Tegoshi began to sob quietly. Ryo tried to get close to him, tried to calm him down. His hand tried reached for Tegoshi, but he shoved it harshly.
“DON’T TOUCH ME!” yelled Tegoshi with angry eyes. He was really furious and didn’t want to stay any longer, didn’t want to be in the same room with that dirty liar. He stormed out the room leaving Ryo in his own frustration.

The next morning, Tegoshi and Shige waited for a taxi to take them back to the airport. Tegoshi had told Shige everything, and both decided there was no use to stay longer, their little adventure was over, with unexpected ending. Tegoshi was so down, betrayed and broken heart. All in one. It hurt. He promised himself for not crying anymore. Bastard like Nishikido Ryo didn’t deserve any of his tears.
Just when he thought he would never meet him again, Ryo appeared in front of him. He stopped their taxi with his arm wide opened. The taxi driver cursed, lucky he hit the brake just in time, or else Ryo would be a history. Tegoshi was shocked with Ryo’s impulsive action, his jaw still gapped when Ryo knocked his window. He mouthed something, but Tegoshi couldn’t hear it. He didn’t want to hear anything else, but Shige opened the window for him.
“Tegoshi, I found him!”
“What?”
“I found him, I found your soulmate. Yamashita Tomohisa!”
Both Tegoshi and Shige exchanged looks. Both still comprehend on what Ryo just said.
***
Tegoshi didn’t know how he ended up sitting next to Ryo in a rented car with Shige sitting uncomfortably at the back squeezed between their suitcases and shopping bags. Maybe because Shige urged him to take this last chance to find his soulmate. Or maybe because he was touched with Ryo’s effort. He really didn’t know. He still refused talking to Ryo though.
Ryo sighed. He knew he would get ignored, but it was his own fault, so he didn’t complain. He drove the small car to a very posh hotel in Nusa Dua area. All the hotels there are really expensive. And usually only very rich people like movie stars from America who would stay in such posh bungalow hotel like that. Ryo knew people who worked there, so they got special discount.
“Selamat sore, apakah Tuan Yamashita Tomohisa tinggal di hotel ini?” asked Ryo in fluent Indonesian. (literally translated : “Good evening, is Mr. Yamashita Tomohisa staying in this hotel?”)
“Ya tuan, dia ada di kolam renang saat ini.” answered the receptionist friendly. (literally translated : “Yes sir, he’s at the pool right now.”)
“Terima kasih.” (“Thank you.”)
Ryo led Tegoshi and Shige to the pool area. There weren’t many people swimming that moment. Tegoshi didn’t know how his destined soulmate would look like. He didn’t have any high expectation, not after everything happened with Ryo before. He actually wanted to give up. He almost did, he already turned back his small body to his room when he heard some girls giggled and said, “See ya, Yamashita-san!”
He twisted his head in reflect, and there he was, the man that he was always looking for 8 years long. A tall handsome man who just came out from the pool. He shook his long wet hair then let his fingers ran thru it. His body was nicely shaped. Golden necklaces tingling on his neck. The sexy image of him made Tegoshi gulped hard. Tegoshi was hesitated to approach him, but Shige pushed him to the tall man.
The tall man was drying his body with a wet towel. He looked at Tegoshi half-willingly.
“Yes?”
“Anoo, are you Yamashita Tomohisa?”
“Yes.”
“Really really Yamashita Tomohisa?”
“That’s my name.”
“Uh, nice name. I’m Tegoshi Yuya. Doumo.”
“Doumo.”
Tegoshi didn’t know what to say anymore. That “Yamashita Tomohisa” was kind of cold to him. But again, he wasn’t a quitter, not after everything he had been thru to find this man. The man who finally stood in front of him.
“Uhm, Yamashita-san, would you want to have dinner with me?” asked Tegoshi after he collected all his courage.
“Just the two of us?”
“Yes!”
“Uhm okay. Just because you are cute.”
“Thanks! See you at 7 then.”
“Okay.”
Tegoshi was over the moon, he successfully asked the man of his dream a date! He returned to Shige and Ryo’s place with a little jump of joy. He made peace signs with both of his hands, and it was enough for Shige to understand the situation. He was happy for his best friend. But not for Ryo, he began to regret his decision to help finding that “Yamashita Tomohisa”. He would lose Tegoshi forever.

6.30 PM, Nusa Dua Hotel
Ryo knocked on Tegoshi’s room, replied with a vague “Douzo!” from inside. He turned the door knob, and it wasn’t locked. He stepped inside but he couldn’t find Tegoshi inside the room. He was still in the bathroom. Ryo sighed. It would be his last chance to win back Tegoshi’s heart.
“Shige, could you please get my clothes?” Tegoshi peered over from the door. A towel covered his waist, a bit shocked to find Ryo instead of Shige, “Oh, it’s you.”
“This one?” Ryo handed him a prepared clothes from the chair. Tegoshi received it and mumbled thanks. He closed back the bathroom door. A few moments later, he opened it again.
“Could you please pass my wa-…” his hand stretched out the door.
Ryo passed his silver hand watch even before Tegoshi finished his sentences.
“Thanks.” he closed the door.
Ryo reached Tegoshi’s black skull necklace from the table and passed it to him once Tegoshi opened the door again. He hadn’t even said anything. But yeah, he was looking for his necklace. He was speechless for a while, but he mumbled thanks anyway. Feeling a bit touched that somehow Ryo knew his habits.
Tegoshi finally stepped out from the bathroom, looking drop-dead gorgeous in his new clothes. He looked for Shige but then he remembered Shige wasn’t feeling well and rested in the room next door. Balinese foods were somehow too spicy for his stomach. Tegoshi was lucky that he loved spicy foods.
“You look great, Tegoshi.”
“Thank you, Nishikido-san.” replied Tegoshi out of politeness.
“Call me Ryo, please.”
“You still dare to make a request?”
“Sorry.”
“Iie, forgive my rudeness. I should thank you for helping me out.”
“But Tegoshi, are you sure he is really your soulmate? He seems like a brat to me.”
“Look who’s talking?”
“I’m sorry I lied to you, but I love you. You see, I wasn’t supposed to be in Bali this week, but my boss suddenly assigned me here. And that night, I wasn’t supposed to be in Kuta area, but I ended up there. It was destiny, Tegoshi. We are destined to meet each other that night. Me, Nishikido Ryo, not him, Yamashita Tomohisa.”
“Enough, Nishikido-kun! Don’t make me hate you.”
Ryo was lost in his own words, he was happy that Tegoshi didn’t hate him, after all he did to him. But he was also sad that he couldn’t change Tegoshi’s mind to see that man. The man that was so lucky to be named as ‘Yamashita Tomohisa”.
“I’m off.” Tegoshi excused himself and went out the door. Ryo watched Tegoshi go with his shattered heart.

Tegoshi arrived in front of the restaurant and saw Yamapi already waited him there. Yamapi smiled and waved his hand. He seemed different tonight, friendlier than before. Tegoshi let out a sigh of relieve. Yamapi complimented his clothes and Tegoshi also admired Yamapi’s appearance that night. He looked stunning with his wavy brown hair and sexy eyes.
They finished dinner an hour later. The dinner was great. They always have endless topics to talk about. Yamapi asked him if he wanted to join a party for hotel’s guests in one of the yacht that parked in the peer near the hotel. Tegoshi nodded excitedly. He hadn’t been in a party for a while. In other hands, he began to feel comfortable with Yamapi beside him.
Yamapi passed him a glass of champagne. He looked at the glass confusedly. He never drank it before. Tegoshi was a good kid. He always followed rules for not drinking and smoking before age of 20. Now he’s already 20, he tasted few alcohols but not yet champagne. He suddenly felt more adult than ever, he sipped the champagne, it was bitter-sweet, but he liked the taste. He drank it at one go, and received a soft applauses from Yamapi. He got Tegoshi another glass of champagne. The second glass made him tipsy a little bit. Champagne is indeed a strong alcohol. He giggled at his own clumsiness.
Yamapi whispered him some teasing words and made him giggled even more. Then he kissed Tegoshi, wet with tongue tangled to each other. Tegoshi moaned as Yamapi’s hand ghosted inside his shirt, caressed his nipples. Tegoshi went red, he didn’t like it. Not in public. He shoved Yamapi’s hand off him, but Yamapi insisted. Tegoshi began to feel uncomfortable. He broke the kiss, but Yamapi didn’t let him. He kissed him hard and forcefully.
“Dame Yamashita-kun! Not here!” pleaded Tegoshi. Yamapi ignored him and started to molest him again. Tegoshi was about to cry. He wished to get disappeared, away from Yamapi, away from this embarrassment.
“BAKANISHI, GET YOUR DIRTY HANDS OFF HIM!!” suddenly Ryo jumped between them. He grabbed Jin by his collar and punched him hard on the face. Jin was fell backward, blood running softly from his lips. He wiped it away with his thumb. He got up and punched Ryo in return. Ryo was so angry, he attacked Jin.
“I DIDN’T TELL YOU TO TOUCH HIM, AHO!”
“Well, your little bitch is really hot.” smirked Jin mockingly. Ryo clenched his fist ready to blow Jin again.
“ENOUGH!!!” screamed Tegoshi from out of his lung. Tears ran down from the corner of his eyes. He almost couldn’t believe everything he just heard. He got deceived, yet once again from the same man. The man named Nishikido Ryo. How he hated him.
“Tegoshi, let me explain. I didn’t plan this. I thought if you found him as a bad person, you would forget him and return to me.” Ryo hastily spoke.
“ENOUGH!! I DON’T WANT TO HEAR IT! I DON’T WANT TO SEE YOU AGAIN! I HATE YOU!” Tegoshi stamped at his feet and run down the yacht back to the hotel. Ryo watched him go sheepishly.
***
Early morning, Shige was already feeling much better. He heard everything, and now he hated Ryo too. He wished he could find him so he could at least give him a nice slap on his face. Shige was checking out when he saw someone familiar ran toward him.
“Shigeeee, I miss youuu!!” Koyama hugged him.
“Ehh Kei, what are you doing here?”
“I was looking for you for days! No one told me that you and Tegoshi are having holiday here in Bali. Shigeeee, how come you didn’t tell meeeee!” whined Koyama still hugging Shige tightly. Shige was speechless, he knew Koyama has a plane phobia, but yet he still went by himself to follow Shige there.
“Kei, I miss you tooo!” cried Shige out of his happiness. He could sense everything between them would be just fine. He still loved him the most anyway.
They sent Tegoshi to the airport. Shige stayed with Koyama, as he just arrived there for few hours and it was such a waste if he flew back to Japan with them. Tegoshi understood, he might be selfish, but he wanted nothing more than their happiness. He was really happy to see both of them made up.
“Koko de ii desu.” Tegoshi said.
“Really? Will be you be alright alone?” worried Shige.
“It’s ok! Thanks for everything Shige! Go enjoy your honeymoon with Kei-chan.”
“I will! Ne Kei?” Shige turned his head to his lover.
“Of course, I won’t ignore my princess ever again!”
“You better be, Kei-chan! Or else you will get a nice kick from me.”
“Uwaaaa, uke united is very scary!” joked Koyama with huge grin. Tegoshi smiled. The first smile after the incident last night. The incident he wanted to erase so badly from his memory. He bade them goodbye and went inside the airport.
Soon after Tegoshi’s disappeared inside the building, Koyama nudged Shige, “Shige, is it true both of you flew here to find Yamashita Tomohisa?”
“Yeah, you know about Tegoshi’s destined soulmate, right?”
“Uh oh, in matter of fact, I’m Yamashita Tomohisa.”
“Eh, what do you mean? Don’t you play with me, Kei!”
“I mean, I’m the one who created him, from the ouija board.”
“SO HE NEVER EXISTED?” Shige raised his tone in anger.
“Psst, he did exist, at least 8 years ago. He was a friend of mine at school, a loser. His name just came across my head.”
“Then what about the fortune teller thing?”
“I paid Madame Rosa 500 yen to mention the name.” continued Koyama with guiltier look on his face.
“OMG Kei, all these years, you lied to him.”
“I’m sorry, that Yamashita already moved town, so I thought he would never meet him.”
“Why you didn’t tell him?”
“He won’t speak to me again. Even more he could cut our family ties. I can’t bear it, Shige.” sobbed Koyama.
“Okay okay, it will be our little dirty secret then.” he patted his lover’s shoulder.
“Thank you Shige, I love you!”
“I love you too, silly!”

Tegoshi was queuing in the long line of people to return to Tokyo. Mean while, in the other side of the airport, Ryo was also queuing in the line to Osaka. He was called home by his boss. He wanted to see Tegoshi and apologized but he needed to collect his stuff in city first, so he had to leave the hotel before dawn. He missed Tegoshi. He didn’t know his number. He realized he was losing Tegoshi forever.
Tegoshi’s line was moving. He couldn’t wait to be back to Tokyo. He was homesick. Not because Massu was there, he already said goodbye to Massu yesterday, right after he knew about Ryo’s lies. He didn’t know why he did that. He only realized that he didn’t love Massu. He didn’t want to be a liar either. Massu deserved someone who loved him with all his heart. And that someone wasn’t Tegoshi.
Just when he just moved few inches, the sound of speaker was heard all over the airport, began with a loud DING DONG, “Attention Please! Mr. Yamashita Tomohisa please go to the information centre, there’s a phone call for you. I repeat, Mr. Yamashita Tomohisa please go to the information centre.” It ended with a loud DING DONG aswell.
Tegoshi gasped upon hearing the name that mentioned in the speaker.
YAMASHITA TOMOHISA, MASAKA?
He shook his head. He already decided for not caring about that peculiar name anymore. He already gave up. He didn’t want his happiness to be tied up with a certain name. But his feet moved itself, against his will. He was still curious after all.
Mean while, Ryo was curious aswell. He ran to the information centre, and found Tegoshi also just arrived there under his breath. Both looked at each other. The man they were looking for was facing his back against them. He was in the middle of phone call. The man was tall and has nice built body. They couldn’t see his face just yet.
Ryo sighed. He wanted to say something, but he couldn’t. The man finally ended his phone call and turned his body to them.
“Yes?” he looked confused as two of them were looking at him.
“Are you Yamashita Tomohisa?” asked Ryo with shaky voice.
“Yes, I am.”
“This man is looking for you. Please take good care of him.”
“Eh?”
Ryo bowed to Tegoshi and performed a salute. He lost. He couldn’t win Tegoshi’s heart. He walked back to his line to Osaka. Tegoshi watched Ryo’s back with uncertain expression drawing in his face. The real Yamapi in front of him still looking at him in confuse. Tegoshi finally studied the man he was always looking for a moment. He laughed bitterly when he saw a ring in Yamapi’s finger. He’s a married man. How foolish was that. All these years he was in dream for nothing.
“Why you are looking for me? Do I know you?” asked Yamapi.
“Not exactly, just by the name.”
“I see. But why the man earlier said something about me taking care of you?”
“I-I don’t know.”
“Do you love him?”
“Eh?”
“Do you love him?” Yamapi repeated his question.
“I-I think so.”
“So go for him.” smiled Yamapi widely.
Tegoshi suddenly realized who he was truly in love with. NISHIKIDO RYO. Sure he deceived him, not just once, but twice, but he did that out of his love for him. Deep inside, he already forgave him. Tegoshi ran to the Osaka line, the gate was almost closed.
“Please, I need to be in that plane.” begged Tegoshi with his broken English. He didn’t want to lose the love of his life ever again.
“Let me see your boarding pass first, sir.” smiled the officer lady.
“I-I don’t have any. But the man that I love is in that plane, I have to be there.” pleaded Tegoshi between his sobs. The lady saw the boarding pass in Tegoshi’s hand.
“Oh, you supposed to go to Tokyo. Wait a sec, sir. I think I can get it exchanged.”
“Eh really?” his eyes widened.
“Sure, wait here!” she continued speaking thru his walkie-talkie, “Wayan, tahan pesawatnya! Ada penumpang mau bertemu dengan kekasihnya!” (literally translated : “Wayan, hold the plane! There’s a passenger who wants to meet his lover!”)
“Roger!”
The lady quickly ran to the plane counter, she got the ticket exchanged. The other officer was somehow managed to get his suitcase with him. Tegoshi was touched with everyone’s kindness. He was thankful and kept on bowing to them. They wished him good luck and let him get inside the plane.
On the plane, Tegoshi started searching for Ryo. He found him sulking in his seat. He smiled and approached him. Ryo was surprised to see him, obviously. He stood up anyway, ready for a big slap on his face. But instead he felt embrace from Tegoshi. The other passengers started clapping their hands for them some even cheers. Ryo blushed, out of happiness. He looked to Tegoshi in the eyes and mouthed, “I love you.” Tegoshi blushed aswell and replied, “I love you too!” right in Ryo’s ear. Their little adventure ended up with a long kiss watched by many pairs of people. They didn’t care. They only care for their happiness. A happiness created from their love to each other.
the end
err, i changed the location from Italy to Bali, maybe becoz i'm patriotic? lmao! Tegoshi would prefer going to Italy though ^^;; originally Shige's character should have a fling, an Italian playboy. but i decided to not adding any local character here lol. this is my first BL one-shot fic and it's not beta-ed, so it's far from perfect T_T
