So naturally the minute I start to wax poetic about Fall approaching, the goddamn weather shots right back up to ninety. I had to leave the football game at halftime(and I wasn't the only one) because it was just too freaking hot. Stupid weather. And this was after a blissful evening of downpour on my birthday, too. I was so thrilled! Hmph.
But really, that's the only snag. I've really had a lovely weekend so far. I took Friday off-I slept in, got up and ate breakfast and then took another nap. Then I got up again and proceeded to lay around for much of the day and I'll tell you, it was every bit as relaxing as I thought it would be. Then I had to tidy up because everyone was coming over for dinner a' la Cindi. Well, not EVERYONE. My friend Zach is in town for another short stint before he goes back to Iraq for another seven months. I'm so not thrilled about it. In truth, I'm very afraid for him. His wife is six months pregnant with their first child and it scares me, because this is the type of tragedy that unfolds daily now. But let's put that aside and think about how great it was to see the both of them, and how it was like a year plus hadn't passed-we all just fell in as we usually do. Cindi made a delicious meatloaf, with cottage potatoes. I contributed some peas, rolls and salad, Zach and Michelle brought cake and TMV came through with the booze-this is a perfect evening in my book. Then we just sat around for hours, big band in the background, and talked about all kinds of stuff. It was great to have that evening here-this house just kind of completes that happy, satisfied and content feeling.
Then of course, the football game, which we won-yay! Then relaxing at home watching The Adventures Of Robin Hood starring Errol Flynn-super dreamy and fun to watch. Today it's more lazing around, which truthfully, I feel a little guilty about, and tomorrow dinner and a movie with my Pops and friends. It's a good life.
