John Karr Freed in JonBenet Case
As quickly as word spread that JonBenet Ramsey’s murderer was found spread, John Mark Karr was proven guilty. On August 28th Karr was released, on the proof that the DNA found at the cite of the murder and under Ramsey’s fingernails didn’t match Karr’s.
Karr, who was living in Thailand for the past few years and working as a school teacher there, admitted several times that he killed JonBenet. According to Karr, he did not intend to kill Ramsey. He has alleged that he had sex JonBenet, and during a sex act, cut of her air supply. The end result was unintentional death by asphyxiation, using a paintbrush belonging to Patsy Ramsey.
The news that Karr was innocent came as a shock to many people, including John Karr. A big part of him being guilty was the fact that he was communicating via e-mail with an investigator of the case, and sharing details of the crime scene and the case that only someone that was there would know.
Seth Temin, Karr’s attorney, expresses his anger of the charges against Karr.
"We're deeply distressed by the fact that they took this man and dragged him here from Bangkok, Thailand, with no forensic evidence confirming the allegations against him and no independent factors leading to a presumption he did anything wrong,"
