hausblog: another piece of the yard done...
The deck, which we had held off on finally putting back on the addition after we had issues with the work done in the back yard, is now done! We had a general idea of how it should look, but didn't have an exact plan. My cousin, a carpenter, built it and I think he did a pretty awesome job.
I wish we didn't have to put quite so much stuff on it, but it is still a bit bigger than our old deck, so it feels huge. It doesn't have unnecessarily high railings like the old one -- both decks are/were about one foot off the ground, so railings really aren't necessary at all. We had my cousin build in these ledge/seat things instead so there is a lot of extra seating too if we have a party.
