I'm less and less happy with the series adaptation of the show. So much of what makes these characters so great happens in their thoughts, and you can't get any of that here. Best examples of characters I learned to love early on because of their POV chapters are Sansa and Jaime. Anyway ...
The scene with Podrick was not in the books. I have no clue as to why it was added in, other than to have a bunch of naked whores, one of which making like Cirque de Soleil. As far as I remember, Podrick was a virgin until the last we see of him in a A Dance With Dragons. The whorehouse is by far my least favorite part of this show. It was present in the books, but it was never a place they just hung out because, well, I guess it's cause you can't see boobs in written words.
I'm so disappointed in the paring down of the Jaime/Brienne storyline. They had so much great stuff which was edited out of the show. :/
with Sansa i understand why people hated her in the first season. i mean, she was a naive little thing who thought she was going to live a fairy tale life so she just went along with everything. i really do think that the show has shown her struggles since then tho. i've only gotten thru part of the second book so far but even without reading it's obvious that everything she's done since the death of Ned was to just save herself and her family from even more harm. Jaime i haven't really felt much for at all. he's sort of been one dimensional and so far i haven't gotten much out of the books, either

I kind of WTFed on that scene. I hope it's not spoiling anything to say it's not in the books. Whhhhyyyy? I mean, go Podrick and all. Bully for him. But is that seriously it? I'm hoping the women were instructed not to take money for some nefarious reason that ties back into the main plot. Otherwise, meh. Pointless nudity because HBO somehow requires it? Yawn.
I can't believe some douche spoiled the red wedding! That's just so wrong. Us book people are supposed to secretly giggle and wait for the flailing! Being a douchebag spoiling dick aside, it's no fun if there's no flailing!
Anyway, I'm not always happy with the changes from the books (though some are amazing a la all the cool-ass Syrio Forell quotes), but I'm happy enough with the show. It's at least more faithful than the HP movies by miles and miles. And it's very well-cast and that makes up for a lot.
someone else also informed me that it wasn't in the books, either. WTF WHY WAS THAT EVEN IN THE SHOW THEN?!!? IT TOOK UP SCREENTIME FROM IMPORTANT SHIT! GODDAMN IT! my theory is that he didn't do anything with them so that's why they didn't take the money lol
