Inactivity has made me curious, so I have a question for those who live here:

Are there many types of sentient beings on your respective worlds? What are they like, and how do you handle the differences between your species?

[For the residents of House 50 (and closeby neighbours) you might hear a bit of a racket going on in the barn. Nanaki's ( Read more... )

This is an interesting question! I'm curious to see what others have to say.

There are a few different types, yes; humans, Eidolons, dwarves, hummingway and Lunarians. The latter two largely exist on the Red Moon, but they have a representation in the world below. The dwarves and Eidolons are largely isolated in the Underworld. The Eidolons don't welcome most into their realm, but they do have a close bond with my people, summoners.

Summoners? I'm familiar with summon creatures, but there's no specific type of person who can use them on my world.

Really? So anyone can summon them? Don't they need training?

Anyone who finds the right materia for it, yes.

Materia...oh right, Yuffie mentioned that to me. What about your world? I'd be interested to hear what you have to say about the species there and how they interact.

Ah- yes, I'm from Yuffie's world.

The majority of the world is populated by humans and monsters... honestly, I'd love to learn more about my world world as well, though I'm unfortunately trapped here for now. I spent most of my life in a single village, and just one year in a larger city. [Though he didn't see much in said city, considering it was spent in a laboratory.] It's only this past year that I was able to finally experience the world.

At least you managed to see some of it? And the presence of friends from home ought to help, too. Of course it's not the same as seeing the world with your own eyes, but you're still ahead that way.

What about the village, your people? Do they get along with the humans?

You're right, of course. The fact that my friends are with me does make a big difference- I've learned as lot from them, both here and back home.

I actually grew up in a human village, and since my father was the protector of that village when I was a child, the humans there accepted me and helped to raise me as if I was one of them. There's nowhere in the world where I'm so easily accepted and cared for... it's a wonderful place.

It sounds that way. Would that everyone was so accepting.

That's how I felt in the Feymarch, with the Eidolons. What I said about them not welcoming most humans was true, but they readily accepted me and allowed me to live with them. Thanks to their kindness, I was far less lonely than I could have been.

[Yeah it'd be nice if everyone was as nice to him as they are to humans. Maybe then he wouldn't get stabbed 8|]

Were they accepting of you because you are a summoner, then?

More or less, but it's a bit complicated. They wouldn't have raised someone who wasn't a summoner, but if there hadn't been a significant threat to my world at the time, there wouldn't have been as urgent a need to find and train me.

Your world was in danger as well, then.

It seems to be a running theme with many people I meet here! Someone was very intent on eliminating all sentient life on the planet for his own people. He lost...but it cost us much.

That sounds similar to what our world experienced. My friends and I were victorious as well, but many people died in the process.

I'm sorry. We lost many people, too, but there really isn't anything to do but try and make sure that never happens again.

No, you're right. Their sacrifices weren't for nothing- the world is peaceful now, and we can't ask for more than that.
