It would be of no benefit to me to do so. Your reaction suggests you think it's an obvious lie, and why would I want to antagonize my fellow residents my first day here? I doubt half of them would be pleased to see someone else connected with the law.

The other half would be annoyed that I was presenting myself as someone of more importance than I actually am. It would be wiser for me to present myself as an ordinary student if I was concerned more about appearances than the truth.
