Hello there! Late like a late thing, but I have scrounged up a gen-fic [sorry I suck at writing pairings :( ] of Nico Robin and her dallyings with the revolutionaries. I hope you will find it entertaining, even if it has a critical lack of Perona and is over 2000 words. I'll be posting it in steps, so stay tuned to this post!

It is the second week, and she has yet to meet Dragon face to face. Nico Robin has a fairly good guess as to why- he is testing her, testing how far she can be pushed and how she will react once she realizes he won’t be as accommodating as the other revolutionaries have been. So far he’s been irritatingly successful: she tried using her eyes and ears to spy after just two days, but to make a limb suddenly appear and expect to go unnoticed by the man capable of sensing even the minutest movements of air has so far not proven successful. This is his home, and he feels and knows all that happens in it. All that she has learned so far is that she is now far more interested in meeting her captains mother- if any parts of his agreeable sides are genetic, he surely didn’t inherit them from Dragon ( ... )

There is a chapel inside the base which she uses whenever she requires some peace and quiet. Despite the ceiling being tall enough to accommodate a man twice the height and width of Franky's, it feels very small and intimate. It is situated far away from any of the open spaces that carries the desert wind through it- still and silent as a grave, with almost no visitors barring herself and one curious young man ( ... )

It was a simple enough question, meant to break the ice. Being the studious type that she was, Robin already had a good idea of why he was there- the priest was one of the main founders of the Southern Cross movement, and his proper title was Saint Demitri, the movement being one of the few radical enough to denounce the official Oceanus Church decree that the word ”saint” was reserved for the Divine Dragons, and he had died a martyrs tragic and glorified death. But if feigning ignorance made him talk she was not above resorting to just that. He certainly seemed to straighten up when she asked, but instead of turning around he took the Bible from the altar and began to flip through it’s pages.

”saint demitri was a man who, more than anyone else, symbolized the ideals of the Southern Cross. To always look for light in the darkest of times, and to stand steadfast against the whispers and temptations of the deceitful. As it says in Vellamo 3: 11…

’He stood before the doors of the temple, and saw a vision of his beloved brother lying ( ... )

She raised an eyebrow.

”He?”

”… My father. The one I’m praying for.”

A brief silence fell over the room. Robin had no experience with praying for those no longer with you… only mourning them.

”My condolences.”

”He… died for this war. He gave everything that a man can possibly give for this cause, and sacrificed all that he had for us. For you.”

The statement caught her by surprise, as she thought back to the last time that she had seen the Shichibukai- when he had singlehandedly broken apart her crew. Her family. Was that all part of this? All part of a plan? The young man almost turned to face her, but once again he stopped himself, swallowed his emotional instability, and continued ( ... )

FINAL PART anonymous December 20 2010, 20:31:55 UTC
What Nico Robin had not expected that day was to get in the good graces of Dragons own personal doctor, and not even a week after her first encounter with Sabo he had already managed to arrange a meeting with Dragon. Before she knows it she’s standing before the worlds most wanted man in the flesh, and judging from the smile he’s giving Sabo as she enters after him she has a fairly good guess of the point in making her wait: to force her to interact with the other revolutionaries and connect with them, in the hopes it would make her more reluctant to leave. She fires yet another one of her friendliest smiles towards him, and her pleasure in seeing Dragons own smile stiffen can hardly be described in words ( ... )

icon related it's mfw this fic

I'm seriously trying to think of something more constructive to say than just HOLY CRAP but... am kinda failing. so just, HOLY CRAP this is an amazing read. I was totally floored by the reveal. both Sabo's and Robin's life philosophies really made me hnngggg 8'( but also I couldn't help but laugh like an idiot when Robin was deliberating silencing the poor dude. ROBIN NEVER EVER CHANGE especially those amazing ~friendly~ CHOOSE YOUR NEXT WORDS CAREFULLY smiles.

I am personally adopting this fic as Sabo headcanon and if Oda ever josses me I will just............. idk, reread this in an act of futile denial!! and man, Luffy's mom, wouldn't we all like to know her!!

THANK YOU SANTA, YOU'RE THE MOST AMAZING EVER AND I LOVE YOU ♥♥♥ also you should totally crosspost this fic or something because I adore it and everyone else should too.
