Research papers, smee-search papers...
Unlike Nathan and John, whose Lit. courses required them to turn in hefty research assignments during the first half of the semester, I (with only a matter of weeks left in the semester, including Thanksgiving break, mind you) have recently been burdened with a 20-page research paper "concerning any topic from the course." I'm sort of embarrassed to admit this, but I don't think I've ever had to an assignment like this before. It's as if there's a hole in my education. Thanks, LSU.
So I'm pretty terrified.
Michelle got a real job yesterday--high salary, benefits, two weeks paid vacation. It makes me wonder if i'll ever get a job. While at dinner after fiction workshop, my thesis adviser suggested that we all pursue a PhD. Guh, that wasn't really in the plans. But I think it might be a neccessity. God, in less than two full paragraphs, I've managed to segue from admitting my inability to write a research paper to talking about getting a doctorate in literature. I'm hopeless.
I'll just be a famous writer instead. Yes, that's the ticket!
