Marathon training, week 6

Jan 22, 2023 16:23

This week I ran 4 times
  • 3 runs of 3 mins running / 2 mins walking (up to 45 minutes)
  • long run of 14km (9 miles), which was 1 min running / 1 min walking
  • Managed 1 gym visit
  • 2 rest days
Generally felt quite tired, but kept going...

The highlight was the ARUK training day, which I attended virtually. Lots of great fundraising ideas and I finally put my distribution list together, emailed and posted on social media (twitter, facebook, linkedin).

Key take aways:
  • really exciting research being done into Alzheimers
  • Running is "standing on one leg at speed" (ie work on my balance)
  • Run gently enough
  • at end of long run "I could have kept going"
  • it's enough to do 3 runs, and 1-2 strength sessions
  • alcohol is not a performance enhancing drug
  • get enough sleep and rest
