Fine Art Valentines are mini works of art made with traditional printmaking methods, ranging from intaglio to serigraphy to hand carved stamping. This swap is on its seventh year!
Each artist will make 20 prints to send in, and will receive a full set back, including one of their own, with one print from each of the various participating artists. (You sent 5, you get 5, not including one of your own. You can either edition your prints (make a series of the same image) or you can make a series of UIs (unique impressions... this just means they're all different.) Prints must be in some traditional printmaking method, but can feature hand alteration and paint or other additions.
The image area should be about 2x2 inches, but it's ok if you go smaller or larger. Paper size MUST be 4x4 inches. Other than that, you are free to use any media, that includes a heavy component of traditional printmaking (from hand carved stamps to serigraphy to lithography and collograph.) You could even stamp with a potato if you really wanted! Please use quality paper.
Your Edition:
1) Should contain 20 prints, paper: 4x4 inches, image area: 2x2 inches.
2) Should have each print signed, numbered, and titled.
3) Be sealed to prevent water damage in transit.
4) Be something fabulous and funky from your very own hands, employing some method of printmaking.
5) Have a heart or valentine theme somewhere in it. 6) Have at least one color other than black and/or white.
7) Arrive in my hands on or BEFORE 15 JANUARY 2010. Send as early as you like.
8) Arrive with sufficient postage for returns, an address label, and with a note or something that includes your handle here (if you didn't use it to sign them)!
Send with your edition:
1) A neatly handwritten or typed address label with your information on it.
2) $3 USD to cover the returns of an amt of valentines equal to the ones you sent.
3) Please write ATTN: art42 FAV 7 on the envelope on the back, or below or above my name in the mailing address.
