Originally uploaded by anongrrl it's really hard to start a new piece sometimes, whether writing or drawing or painting or printing. the huge white space can suck up your ideas before they hit the gesso.

my favorite watercolors can be a starting point... but sometimes not. this is my second tin of them. you can see i use the raspberry color the most. i also use a lot of the blue, but it's a rich pigment and not much is needed to go a long way.

i have a shortage of brushes. most of the ones i currently have are pretty crappy. hairs fall out all the time.

any tips, btw, on getting colored acrylic inks to function with dip pens? they don't seem to want to write on gesso. does sanding the gesso help?
