And he asked if I believed in fate, and I said yes*

"Neo, do you believe in fate?"
"No."
"Why not?"
"Because I like to think that I have some control over my own life."

Ask me the same question, and I'll tell you that I've lived through enough to feel there is no way of denying fate. Fate is what made John Schwartz be the friend that Craig Apperton asked to help bring a new computer over to my house that December night that, three years later, led to my parents' marriage, and a wonderful life for all of us. It's what got me into the greatest dorm ever. Fate is what kept me at the piano for two minutes before I continued into the hallway to get water, where I was just in time to see my Dutch god come out of the showers.

Fate is a difficult concept, but I just like to accept it. I'm not superstitious, not really. I like to read my horoscopes, but just for fun, and see if maybe anything happens. That sort of thing. And while sometimes I like to think like Neo, and I do like to feel I have control, I also like to know that sometimes if things just get to be too much, I can just let go and let Jesus take the wheel. I know I'll be alright.

So do I believe in fate?

No doubt.

*This is the tweaked version of the song Yes! by Chad Brock:
She said yes!
I said wow!
She said when?
I said how about right now?
Love can't wait
And I asked if she believed in fate
And she said yes!
