Holiday Refraction

Hello all.

I can't tell you how happy I am that the semester is over. This was definately my most time consuming semester yet. The good old days of coasting through 100 and 200 level classes are over, I guess. And this semester showed me that I am certainly an english major right down to the core. I had no idea that I liked Victorian novels so much! I really really do though. A lot.

Right now, as a reflection of this, I'm reading Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, and really liking it. I've also been reverting to some of my old high school habits. The other night I watched "The Two Towers" with my dad, and it made me really want to read Tolkien again. I guess enough time has elasped between the 12-hour-long-lord-of-the-rings-a-thon that I can start liking it again. I've had a copy of The book of lost tales lying around forever, and I think this might be a good oppurtunity to read it. Hopefully I will not relapse into my former LOTR obsessive behaviors, Like chronically stalking fansites and dressing like an elf. Hopefully.

As a further testament to my english major-ness, Paul got me a set of "Famous Alcoholic Authors" shot glasses. I've never been so heartily excited about a christmas gift before. I can't wait to drink some captains w/ Oscar Wilde.

Christmas was good. It was nice to see family and I got some very nice gifts, most notably a shiny digital camera. Hooray!

Happy New Years Eve, perhaps I'll see some of you later tonight. It would be nice to see friends.
