I was doing so well with this diabetes thing, then I went and stabbed my foot with some mystery object under the sand at the beach. Whoops.
Fishing trip was pretty good - Ben had a really good time, and the bay trip of 4 hours was just about his limit on what he could take, both being on a boat wise and heat wise. He caught a fish basically by himself - he handed me the bait, then got to hold the pole while letting the line down, then he said "I think it moved!" and starting reeling it back up. As we got closer to the top I reeled it in the rest of the way as it was starting to tangle nearby lines - and that's because there was a fish sitting on the end of it trying to swim away. He was pretty excited. All told Ben/I caught 3 sand trout and a sea catfish (you don't even want to pull those onto the boat - spiny and a mildly toxic slime - so we didn't, and let the fish guy free it from the line). Someone on the boat caught a ray; Ben thought that was pretty neat when they brought it on the boat. Ben also got into the whole No Catfish on the boat! rule. He likes rules when said loudly and with vigor.
The beach was fun for the kids - Maggie thought the beach was great as long as she didn't have to touch the sand or the water. She sat in her little chair and watched the waves for a good while though. Eventually she let Christina take her into the water a bit, as long as she didn't have to touch sand. No Sand!
Overall a lot of fun for us and the kids. A++ would do again.
