I really do. And today has been one of the better ones. One of the best things about it is that it's the end of the three day weekend for me, cos I took Friday off work. It has been *amazing*. I have done very little. I went into town on Friday, got my red and gold paints so I could finish my Iron Man model, finally set up some standing orders for comics and just did a few odd jobs.
Other than that, nothing especially exciting, I've watched lots of TV (especially Criminal Minds, I've been on something of a kick just recently) and finished my Iron Man model. Even though I sat so myself, I think he looks pretty damn awesome.

Iron Man Assembled! (oh come on, you knew I had to go with that pun at some point!)
Oh oh oh, and excitingly, I'm going to the special Cambridge Film Festival screening of Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy! Rumour has it that Gary Oldman is going to be there! *eeeeeeeee*
I gave my presentation on Thursday about the group project I've been working on for the last three months. The CEO cancelled the day before which did suck a bit because, well, I'd have been giving a presentation to the CEO. One the other hand, it was hella less scary. It went quite well, everyone seemed pleased with what we came up with. I think something from our idea will be taken forward from here. I just hope we don't have to be too closely involved in it. Or if we do, that they make it our day job. Or pay me more.
Anyway, a review:
The Hurt Locker (2008) ![](http://pics.livejournal.com/niblick_iii/pic/000epweg/s640x480)
This was on my list because I never got to see it at the cinema, and I heard good things about it. And it was good. Very good. I can see why it won all the Oscars. It tells the story of the three bomb disposal guys and the last weeks of their tour of Iraq. It's a small, intimate movie, focussing just on these three guys and a few supporting characters. My favourite being the very British mercanaries who turn up for about 30 seconds before everyone starts getting shot. And by very British I mean, actually British, not Hollywood British.
It is also homoerotic like woah. Well, duh, it's about the Army. They're all about the Male Bonding. I mean, obviously, my goggles are welded on, but still.
My only issue with the film is the lighting. I mean obviously, I know that they're trying for a gritty and realistic feel, and they manage it. I just think that wouldn't have been lost had I been able to *see* what was on screen. Ok, so there's one scene where they're going through the streets at night without lights, and the bits where the screen is completely black and all you can hear is breathing, they are great for ramping up the tension. But the bit where they're on base and having a drink and arsing around, it would not have lost anything, had I been able to see more than their silouettes.
But that aside, you really get a feel for the hell these men are going through and the tensions and moments of camaraderie between them all. A brilliant film.
