30 Days of Film - Day Twenty Eight

·  Day 28 - Favourite movie from your favourite director

This is impossible! I've been thinking over and over this, and I can't come to a concluision. My favourite director, that's easy, clearly it's Edgar Wright.

But my favourite of his films? I can't pick.  I love them all, really I do, and I'm not sure I could pick. So, I'm going to cheat. And talk about them all.

Shaun of the Dead (2004)

I'm trying to remember if I'd seen Spaced before this came out... I think not, as I was just 15 when it did. So this was my first introduction to the genius of Edgar Wright. It's just so undeniably British. So wonderfully home grown. How can I not love it?

Hot Fuzz (2007)

I find the characters slightly more likeable than in Shaun, and more shit blows up. But I still can't pick it above SOTD. Genius. Just genius in a slightly different way. It's less.... initmate. The whole scope of this film is bigger.

Scot Pilgrim Vs The World (2010)

Not one of the Blood and Ice Cream Trilogy, on the other hand, fantastic. I can kind of see what Simon Pegg means when he says it's the closest thing to a third series of Spaced that we're going to get.

I know I've been rather terse talking about these films, but, well, I hardly need to explain the plots to anyone. And I think the reasons why I like them are obvious. They are funny, intelligent, well written, nicely paced, have brilliant plots and have that inimitable Edgar Wright style that is unforgettable. Genius and 5 star through and through. And you can't make me play favourites!
