30 Days of Film - Day Eighteen

Aug 29, 2010 01:11

After yesterday's litany of woe, today has been better. In fact, it's been pretty good. Most of the day was spent tidying the house and packing, which was pretty boring and then I broke the hoover. The plastic handle bit snapped. My uncle randomly happened to be delivering furniture to next door, and he stopped by to say good bye. Then my aunt came ( Read more... )

I watched "I love you Phillip Morris" and I wish I hadn't... kreggy August 30 2010, 15:33:37 UTC
...without at least doing *some* prior research. I went into ILYPM with the idea it was a family comedy which centred around a man who happened to be gay (if you are thinking how the hell did I miss the 15 age rating, it is because I stoeled it :( bad me), and I really wasn't expecting what I saw at all. The first sex scene really irked me (I like sex scenes like you like gore scenes in films - not a lot) and then every scene after that progressively worse (for me, YMMV), so I agree with the Jim Carey sex scenes view ( ... )

Yeah, I imagine that would be a bit of a shock. I went into the movie knowing a bit more what to expect, but it does sort of blindside you.
I agree with you about Russel being a bit of a prick, but more for the way he treated Philip than the conman thing. I have complicated double standards when it comes to lying, especially when it comes to fraud of that kind.
Also, the fact that this is what actually happened also stops it ruining the movie for me. It's about real people, and sometimes real people are dicks.

I agree with the fact that Russel is a prick for the way he treated Phillip, but the way I see it, it's his lying ways that eventually led him to be such a bastard, but that's probably one way of looking at it.

And real people are dicks? D; *goes to happy land inside head*

...Am I wrong, or have we watched every one of the films in the 'possible candidates' list together as well as ILYPM?

*bemused*

The only one I'm not certain we've seen together is Bright Young Things. Hmm...

I honestly can't remember about Bright Young Things... weird.
But yeah, we definitely have seen all the others together. Though, to be fair, I think we've seen quite a lot of the films I've mentioned over the past several days together...

Point.

...I think we should watch Bright Young Things together next time you're over here (or I'm over there, whichever is sooner), just to make sure. y/y?
