We who lived in concentration camps can remember the men who walked through the huts comforting others, giving away their last piece of bread. They may have been few in number, but they offer sufficient proof that everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of human freedoms - to choose one's attitude in any given set of circumstances - to choose one's own way.

I've been feeling a little blah for the last few days. My vacation is rapidly drawing to a close and there is nothing on the near horizon to get excited about. I need to start living in the moment and acknowledging how fortunate I am, instead of focusing on what down the road I have to look forward to.
I needed a little reality check, so I'm spending the day focusing on another of my causes, the Holocaust. I'm watching 'Forgiving Dr. Mengele,' 'The Children of Chabannes,' 'The Hidden Child,' 'My Knees Were Jumping,' and 'Steal a Pencil for me' on Netflix and will start reading 'From Auschwitz to Ithaca.' I am blessed.
