Listy goodness
To go along with Gore's new movie "An Inconvenient Truth" here is my new list:
1. I always have power save on my computer at home and at work.
2. We reuse one-sided paper at work.
3. A lot of the shipping materials and display boxes I receive are recycled or used in our museums "reinvention station" where they can be glued or taped together, colored on, and used to create beautiful masterpieces by kids (or adults.)
4. I convinced my boss to keep the florescent lights off in our office during the day when we don't need them.
5. I don't order from companies that send a lot of unnecessary waste packing materials.
6. I talked our facilities manager into turning down the AC in the summer and the Heater in the winter since visitors complain the temperature is always too extreme anyway.
7. We use energy efficient bulbs.
8. I drive a car with more reasonable gas mileage.
9.I roll down my windows instead of using AC on warm days. (Unless it's unbearably hot, or I need my hair to not be mussed)
10.We have a programmable thermostat that allows us to keep the temperature down when we aren't at home in the winter, also sealed and covered windows and insulated walls, to reduce heat loss.
11. I travel with others, by bus, or walk when possible.
12. I've educated a lot of people about the effects of eco-terrorism with a published paper and speech. Hopefully someone paid attention.
13. The last one on this list, I love nature. I try to enjoy it and not take it for granted.
