HAHA DO YOU GET IT BECAUSE THERE'S THREE OS... OOO... HA... ha.
1. I like Eiji but as Rider protagonists go he doesn't rank up there for me. It's weird, because he's very much in the same tradition of the kind-hearted Rider who basically just wants to help that I've adored in other series (Kenzaki, Shotaro, Shinji) but I find he doesn't pull me the same way others have. He's likeable but bland in a way that means those around him (Ankh and Hina in this case) completely outshine him.
2. I have mixed feelings about Hina. I wish that she got more story time (though it looks like that's about to change) and more chance to be someone other than Eiji's Cute Friend/Sort of Love Interest. But I love that though she does somewhat fill the damsel in distress role a lot, she's written a ton more realistically than your average damsel in distress and she actually makes some effort to get herself out of danger. There's no shame in running if you're not equipped to fight back (heck, it's the smart thing to do) and when Hina can't run she defends herself admirably.
3. You know who is written more like a stereotypical supportive love interest than Hina is? Gotou, man. Sure, it looks like he'll get his day in the sun soon but what has Gotou done for the last twenty episodes but moon after Date devotedly, providing emotional support and concerned cries of "Date-san~!" whenever Birth flounders in a fight? It's really interesting to me that this role, which is almost ubiquitously assigned to women in Kamen Rider, has been handed to Gotou. He is being written exactly as a female love interest would be and yet there are people crying that Date/Gotou shippers are "insane" and "delusional"? Let's be honest: if Gotou was a woman then Date/Gotou would be fandom's ship of choice right now. It is about as canon as Eiji/Hina is, if not more so.
4. Where'd Satonaka go?
5. The Greeeds are still my favourite part of the show. I love villain in-fighting and the fact that we have at least three, possibly four, maybe even five potential Big Bads is pretty exciting to me AND IN FACT LET'S HAVE A POLL ON THIS WHEN I'VE FINISHED TALKING.
6. My favourite Greeed though, is ♥Kazari♥. I really like the backstabbing troll character type in Kamen Rider and I think he's one of the most interesting yet because he seriously doesn't seem to have any heart at all. It's also funny to me that people complain that "he doesn't do much" when he's manipulated the entire set-up of the villains from being the (more or less) united four they were in the first few episodes to being a freaking labyrinth of betrayals and split alliances.
7. Have you seen the fanboy projection on to Uva? It's kinda disturbing. :| Reactions to the past few episodes alone have been full of this inexplicably venom directed at Kazari, Mezuru and Gameru out of empathy for poor ~*~betrayed~*~ Uva. I guess it's because Uva's the ~*~manly man~*~ (lol) some parts of fandom yearn to see in Rider while Kazari is very much the softer-spoken twinkier of the two but guys, Uva's a) a moron and b) not very nice either. Did you forget the time he responded to Mezuru being out of medals and almost dead by hunting her down and trying to kill her? Yeah. Let's not go calling the other Greeeds "traitorous cunts" too quickly now, shall we.
^Having said that I fucking love Uva, I think he's precious.
