i am the queen of debate
So my class on Margaret Atwood's Cat's Eye today turned into more of a general discussion on feminist and feminist readings of literature and the point was brought up that one reading of Cat's Eye was partly that the character of Elaine internalised and perpetuated misogyny and chose to surround herself with only men partly to try and grab some of the male privilege her friends enjoyed for herself. And it was a good discussion until someone jumped in with the cliche of "BUT GIRLS ARE ALL CATTY AND GUYS ARE ALWAYS CHARMING, HONEST FRIENDS!"
I need to get a better hold on my temper, because inevitably when someone says something so stupid I immediately see red and can't argue my point calmly. Instead I just snapped "oh, eat shit".

LJ. I DON'T THINK "OH, EAT SHIT" IS GOING TO GET ANYONE TO RECONSIDER THEIR VIEWPOINT. I mean, I did try and follow up with an explanation of why I thought she should eat shit but I think I'd pretty much lost her by that point.

So I know I said I wasn't going to watch RESCUE but, um, I got bored about a week ago and ended up watching the first two episodes and I like it a lot. Really a lot. More than Mei-chan no Shitsuji, which is kind of depressing me at this point because I'm completely overinvested in the love triangle and it's looking more and more like it will not end how I want it to. :(
Really, pretend you're Mei for a second. Who would you choose between Hiro Mizushima and Takeru Sato? Bear in mind the Mizushima we're talking about is a totally personality-void drag. ETA: HE ALSO STANDS FUNNY IN THIS DRAMA, I JUST THOUGHT I'D MENTION THAT.
