I'm not spoiling in the post (but they're welcome in the comments), but I just have to say the ending of this week's The Closer was just... I can't even put it into words. I had a feeling it was coming, but not in such an immediate sense.
I am still undecided on whether I like the idea of changing The Closer into Major Crimes. Makes sense to change the name, since it was a reference to Sedgwick's character specifically, but it still feels a bit off. Especially since in addition to wrapping up a lot of plotlines before her departure, they're also trying to push Captain Raydor into the storyline more to make the transition to Major Crimes. It sometimes feels forced and taking away from the current show to build up the new one.
They're really going to have to sell me on a dramatic exit for Brenda that's believable, plus also sell me on the team accepting Raydor being in charge. They don't really like her all that much, but then they didn't like Brenda when she first showed up either. They've been dealing with Raydor off and on for a while, so perhaps they're already at "tolerate" and just need a push into "respect and/or fear" territory.
I'm really curious to see if they wrap up the "Who's the mole?" storyline and put a bow on it. It's been floating in the background for over a season, and I'm down to a 50/50 choice on who it is, but I'm afraid either answer will end up in Cliché Land. Could also make me hate the character while watching reruns.
