Sinfest: "Get back! I'm armed and extremely religious!" [wheeze]

Reuters
: Military members march for San Diego gay pride

I'm hoping in a year or so, they can march in uniform. They can truly show their pride then. The media always focuses on pictures of guys in drag and things outside of the vanilla spectrum to give more ammo to the anti-gay crowd (as well as the general "look at the freaks" attitude I also see from the media about cons), but imagine a large contingent of military folk in uniform, along with supporters marching with them in shirts showing the branch their loved on is is, becoming a focus.

Florida Today: NASA rolls out red carpet for final shuttle crew

The "musical wake up calls" for crews during spaceflight is a long-standing tradition. For the last space shuttle mission, they're pulling out all the stops, with specially recorded messages from some of the musical artists, such as Elton John singing Rocket Man, Michael Stipe of REM singing an acappella version of Man in the Moon, and Paul McCartney's turn with Good Day Sunshine.

I'm not sure what the rest of the playlist will be like, but the sentimental fangeek in me wants the last song to be the theme song from Firefly. I know they've played it at least once before, but they have done repeats before, but it just... fits.

Take my love, take my land
Take me where I cannot stand
I don't care, I'm still free
You can't take the sky from me
Take me out to the black
Tell them I ain't comin' back
Burn the land and boil the sea
You can't take the sky from me
There's no place I can be
Since I found Serenity
But you can't take the sky from me...
