It was canceled after season two, when there were three "books" planned, and he tells at least part of what was planned to start the next season. If you watched the show, I recommend reading this, because it specifically gives away how someone survived. You'll know who if you've seen it, if not, go watch it now if you like some really trippy fantasy set in the 1930s Dust Bowl.
