American Assassin teaser trailer

This is based off of Vince Flynn's book series, and I think the idea is to start the character from the start with a young actor, so they can put out sequels every couple of years if it does well. I'm pleased to see Dylan O'Brian get a major role like this, even though it's not a movie that I'd otherwise be interested in watching in theaters. I'm ( Read more... )

I'm picky about action movies, too, and have the same fear you do. There are so many "fun" ones coming out this summer that I am looking forward to. I hope this one gets a fall/winter release without a lot of competition.

Tyler Hoechlin has one too, Stratton (Dominic Cooper is the lead). It just says December 2017 UK release. No trailer, yet. :-/

I've been seeing pics from Stratton and I definitely like the idea of watching Dominic and Tyler onscreen. I've found one trailer for it, but I think the original release date was supposed to be December 2016. That's not a good sign. Might end up straight to video.

Dammit! I hope it gets a chance in theaters. The cast and pedigree are all stellar-I hope it didn't somehow get botched.

Hmmm... over on IMDB it says it released in France April 1st with a notation of (internet), and a little more clicking shows an article about a French production company snagged it with several other titles for digital distribution, followed later by Blu-ray/DVD, then later on they'll be up for cable or free-to-air networks. Something about the way the distribution works in France means a much longer delay for home video if a movie gets any sort of theatrical run.

Still shows a December UK release and none for the US, but there are user reviews popping up. I could see them maybe not getting theatrical distribution in the US, but it was a UK-Italian production, so you'd think it wouldn't be an issue in the UK.
