Orphan Black

Anyone watching this? For those of you who haven't, it's more than clones and conspiracies, it's about dancing.

All four women in the scene are the same actress, and she's played other characters during the show as well. She's so good, I constantly have to keep reminding myself it's all one actress with the help of doubles acting as placeholders. Someone needs to give her All The Awards. To get a taste of how they do it, here's a video of the dance party showing some of the tricks.

For those of you who are watching...

During the slumber party after the dancing, Helena gets up, puts the container with her frozen embryos on the floor and leaves. I'm pretty sure those embryos are going to be key in saving Cosima, but where did Helena plan to go? Was she inspired by Allison making a comment about marriage being worth it if you can get past the rough patches, so she was going out to find her supposed tow truck driver boyfriend? She did have out his hat, which was conveniently dropped when she was abducted. That will probably be what her seestras and brother seestra will think when they find the hat, so even if they look for her, they'll be looking for Trucker Hat Guy and not realize what actually happened.

Another related question. How did the military guys know they'd be able to grab her when she was alone? It was "Clone Club Only" at Felix's place (he's an honorary member as their brother, plus it's his place *g*), but I think they specifically wanted Helena since she's supposed to have the "defect" Sarah has and is able to reproduce. How could they know she'd be the first one out, and that she'd be alone? They couldn't unless they did something to draw her out, and it didn't appear they did.

I think the scariest moment for me was when Kira was trying to wake up Cosima. They really had me convinced she wasn't going to wake up, and it was going to be even more awful that Kira would make that discovery. Following that up with Cosima reading to Kira, and discovering Professor Duncan's cipher and notes, knowing they have some DNA to reboot Cosima's immune system now thanks to Helena and the "fish people" made for a nice recovery for my emotions, though Cosima isn't out of the woods yet.

Not terribly surprised by the male clone thing. Makes sense that the military would want to be able to generate cannon fodder on command. Do they have a built-in defect too? Does Mark know he's a product of Project Castor and is working for them, or is he as in the dark as the female clones were? Did he marry Gracie in order to be able to lay claim on the baby (or babies) that she's carrying that are actually Helena's offspring, thus giving Project Castor part of Project Leda?

I haven't heard anything for certain on season three, which makes me nervous. I think it's getting good ratings for BBC America standards, but on another network, it wouldn't make the cut. It's a little more expensive than it looks though, due to all the time and effort it takes to make one woman appear as many different ones. The dance scene alone took two days to film, which explains why Kira is off to the side, so they wouldn't have to deal with the restricted time a child actor has.
