The Mary Sue: Mark Hamill Pleases Fans By Encouraging Less CGI In Star Wars VII
For me, CGI is like icing, meant to top the cake of practical effects. I like icing, but too much of it will make me sick (and big as my house), but even a nice proportion of icing to cake can overwhelm if the slice is too big. Besides, they're only as good as the ingredients necessary to make it taste so good (i.e. the plot).
Twitter by way of Tumbler:[Iron Man 3 Spoiler (click to open)]I thought it was cute that Happy's fave show was Downton Abbey, and Tony made sure it was playing on the TV in the hospital room. Though I did note that every time we saw Branson and Sybil onscreen, and even squeed a bit to my non-Downton watching friend (I'm working on her) because I totally shipped it. I probably would have picked up the subtext on a second viewing, which I'd planned, but it's nice knowing that subtext was done on purpose and not just my fannish imagination.
