news, mostly about beer tasting

I'm trying to get a few photo posts going to share things/places I've seen. Kind of the point of me having this forum, after all.

March has been the usual very busy time for me. Things should be more loose in April, including return to more physical activity, if the cold ever lets up.

April should also see the release of the phone I'm currently eyeing; thank you to arndis for the older phone I have that is keeping me going and making me contactable again.

Thank you to those who enjoyed my saké tasting. My next big saké thing is attending Kampai Toronto at the end of May, including figuring out when to travel and where to stay. I can only afford one night at a hotel though, even shared.

Also, while my apartment is not ready yet, I should start making plans for my dark beer tasting. I don't know if Fridays are still better than Saturdays, but as most of my Fridays are taken, I would prefer Saturday this time. I'm already discounting April 4 due to Easter, and April 18 due to curling banquet. April 11 is Ad Astra, but that may be most possible - and Friday April 10 is also a possibility for that weekend. April 25 is good too. Those interested, let me know availability.

The lineup:
- Bosteels' Tripel Karmeliet, 8.4% abbey tripel from Belgium
- Belgh Brasse's Mons Dubbel d'Abbaye, 8% abbey-style dubbel from Quebec (Abitibi)
- Trèfle Noir's Chronique, 4.8% irish red ale from Quebec (Abitibi)
- Naufrageur's Colborne, 5% amber ale from Quebec (Gaspé)
- Trafalgar's Chocolate Orange Porter, 5%, from Ontario (Oakville) (likely the nadir of the evening)
- Amsterdam's Tempest, 10% imperial stout from Ontario (Toronto)
- Beau's Tom Green Beer!, 5% milk stout from Ontario (Vankleek Hill)
- Black Creek's Irish Potato Stout, 5%, from Ontario (Toronto)
- Beau's Bottle Imp, 9% imperial stout from Ontario (Vankleek Hill)
- Flying Monkey's Chocolate Manifesto, 10% triple chocolate milk stout from Ontario (Barrie)
- New Holland's Dragon's Milk, 10% imperial double stout from USA (Michigan)
- McAuslan's St-Ambroise Russian Imperial Stout 2014, 9.2%, from Quebec (Montreal)
- Trois Mousquetaires' Porter Baltique Grande Cuvée 2014, 10% imperial porter from Quebec (Brossard)

A nice baker's dozen, more from Ontario than Quebec this time, though barely (6 to 5). I will try to have my chili ready for it, as we will need a bit of stick-ribbing food for absorption...
