American Idol gabbery...
I really can't help it--I am so addicted to reality music shows! Sigh, yet another year of American Idol under my belt. It was actually a pretty good year, and I was quite happy with the results finale last night. Yay for David Cook!! I was really not expecting him to win, there was just too much pimping of David Archuleta. Speaking of which, while I preferred David C. I wasn't against Archie at all, unlike some of the rabid haters on TWoP--some of the crap they were spouting was truly ugly. Great voice on that kid, but I thought he needed a whole lot of seasoning, experience, and growing as a performer for him to catch up to his vocal ability. Plus I thought that the Idol machine would just eat him alive if he won. I thought David C. had the maturity, quick witted-thinking, and firm grasp on who he is as a performer that would make the after-Idol chaos survivable.

David C. with his last song performance night, "The World I Know". Loved this rendition, and everything after the 1:39 minute mark was amazing!
David A in his cheez-tastic "In This Moment". Yeah, it is a veritable goldmine of velveeta, but for me there was a genuine shining moment of awesomeness at the 1:55-2:03 minute mark. This kid can sing!!
In honour of a mostly-good season, here are a couple of my favourite performances:
David Cook - "Billie-Jean"
Jason Castro - "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" (I apologize for the Archuleta signage across the bottom throughout--this was the only version I could find in HD, the better to see him clearly because he is so very, very pretty)
David Archuleta - "Imagine"
Jason Castro - "Fragile"
As you can see...it was all about the boys for me this year! Congrats to David Cook for the win--I look forward to hearing your stuff after the horrendous winner's song has run it's course!
