Chambermaid of Roses

Sep 29, 2010 22:14

The fine ladies in their rainbow colours walk by, and not one of their suitors know how they manage to glow four colours at once. In my dusky pink, I know and try not to smile at the gaudy displays.

1.Take one long-stemmed rose, and four glasses.
2.In each glass, heavily dilute a few drops of food colour.
3.Split the bottom of the stalk lengthways in quarters.
4.Put each split quarter in a different colour.
5.Wait two days until the petals are four different colours.
6.Snip the quartered part of the stalk off, so nobody guesses how it was done.
