I am fighting off the "afternoon sleepies" by making a post here. Wish me luck. =)

I spent yesterday morning at my new place of employment filling out paperwork for their HR dept. Then the lovely HR director took me around on a tour of the company.... and introduced me to the ENTIRE place. If not for the Industrial Designer, I think I might be the token Caucasian. (Which I find hilarious and awesome) I'm looking forward to being exposed to new people, new ideas, new cultures etc. I'm also looking forward to WORKING. I miss being reasonably busy like I was when I was in school.

One of the more entertaining bits of my new employment is the time clock where I will punch in during my probationary period. First it's super cool in that you place your index finger on a small blue lit pad and it reads your finger print to clock you in and out. Second.... the little computer voice that assures you that you are logged in sounds EXACTLY like the voice of the little girl computer in the movie "Resident Evil"...

"You are logged in for August fifteenth.... Have a nice day... You are all going to die down here."

It looks like I will be sharing an office space with three other people; two web guys who work on the company website and the Industrial Designer (the guy who designs the spa chairs). I'll have my own desk! Yay!

Oh yes, the company.... Lexor http://www.lexor.com/PageView.asp?id=10
They design and manufacture spa pedicure chairs, manicure stations and other spa products.

I'll be responsible for creating all their advertising, brochures, billboards, business cards, logos, flyers, catalogues, etc etc under the guidance of the Marketing VP. I'm really looking forward to it.

In other news, the guys I am temporarily staying with until I can find an apartment of my own, are off north on a bike trip of some of the coastal vineyards. I'm babysitting their kids: two cats, Max and Elphaba. I can tell it's nearly their dinner time as Max is wandering around near me in a formal pattern and glancing at me sidelong. The moment I head to the kitchen and their bowls, he'll be completely underfoot. Ha ha ha!
