Okay, I know that the few times I post, I post political bs that very view people really care about, but it bugs me... This is no different...
Tonight, after dinner (and an excellent one at that) Acacia and I were watching the last blurby minutes of Prime News on CNN Headline News channel. A story came up about a woman who'd snapped photos of her daughter, then replaced the heads on porn pictures with that of her daughter and posted them somewhere... years ago, but apparently the daughter just found out recently...
Any way: what bothered me was the banter between the two anchors about how wrong it was (and I agree, it was wrong) and weather or not the woman should go to jail (which I think she should)... However, the comment "She should go to jail, or if no laws exist, they should get busy and make some to get her with" (paraphrasing, i can't remember the wording).
Okay, look... This is called Ex Post Facto, and it is not legal. We cannot make laws to make past acts illegal, however wrong and disgusting it is. It's idle comments like this on national television that are proving that we are becoming the very tyrants that we grew up reading about and hating (King George, USSR, Communist China). I'm tired of the "think of the children" call-to-arms, and how it's being used ever increasingly to outlaw eating peanuts in public on sundays when the sun is at its highest point 'cause some kid in mississippi might be allergic (though they're not sure, he hasn't been tested yet).
Dammit! This stuff really pisses me off!!!
