So its a week 'til Thanksgiving. And I'm getting that Christmas spirit
already. John & I rented "ELF". It was cute in that innocent sort
of way. But it got me in the mood for Christmas. It was a generally
good day overall. I just found out I got a raise, and we're getting
Christmas Bonuses. Which will come in handy for all that shopping that
will be done in the next few weeks. I love shopping and giving gifts to
others. I on the other hand, could live without gifts. Except from
John, he gives me good ones. I wonder what he'll dig up for me this
year. I am very tired. I got a lot to do. I have to make the Smashed
Potatoes for Thursday. My sister in law have been butting heads lately
about the Grandkids Picture were having taken for the Grandparents
Christmas gift. She can be so postal sometimes. You never know if she's
talking to you or if you're getting the cold shoulder. But that is a
long story. I'm just glad that everything's smoothed over now. I hate
conflict, especially among family. That is the absolute worst. If there
was anything I ever wanted more in life, it was peace and harmony in my
family. I slowly watched from afar as family member after family member
got divorced on my moms side of the family. And my dad's side has had
it's ups and downs. Not to mention my own non-nuclear family. Now that
I'm married and have a family of my own, it's been great to get
together with Johns family in his parents little house all sitting
around just talking. No television on or music. Just real conversation.
But lately, or rather, since the youngest two had kids, it became like
a competition. "My kid is cuter than your kid! Look what she can say/do!"
What is up with that? I just want things to go back the way they used
to be. We used to get together for game night. Or just get together,
after the kids fell asleep we could have some wine or whatever and just
talk and laugh. But now, everyone always needs to go, because they have
to get up early, or they were up early that morning and are ready for
bed. No one is any fun anymore. I'm only 29 and I can scarcely stay up
past midnight. That is sooooo sad! And not to mention my body, it feels
like a forty year old's must feel. Well I have said it before and
I will say it again, John and I can party when we're forty! What
partying entails, I'm not sure. We'll see when we get there.
