Desolate Eyes
Nhixxie // Nhijumma
Park Jaebeom, don’t go.
These words are thrown in the air numerous times, in different tones, in different loudness, in different mannerisms.
Whispers, mutters, calls, screams.
There is no fitting explanation to justify how many hearts are claimed and crushed. No substantial explanation to describe how many drops of tears roll down faces and stain the airport floor. No large enough words to resonate how much lives are toppled and turned.
Jaebeom closes off his entire world, detaching himself completely from the voices that struggled to reach out to his already retreating form. He feels nothing but a numb pain strike repeatedly at his chest at the sound of sobbing. He decides that for him to willingly let go of everything in Korea, he must not falter.
He pushes a spurt of speed into his steps, fearing that one more cry might wrench his heart back, mind completely changed and will entirely extinguished.
Whispers, mutters, calls, screams.
They are all like knives cutting through the air.
As Jaebeom strides onto the first step of the escalator, something unexplainable pulls at his shoulders. He cannot help but take a last look back-six pairs of desolate eyes meet one.
And Jaebeom almost falters.
From afar they stand, hidden behind towering walls, painfully suffering within closed spaces, away from prying eyes. They are there, wordlessly watching him walk away from everything they have held onto for the past five years.
Whispers, mutters, calls, screams.
1:59 PM envies them all.
Jealousy rips at their entire beings as they hear the pained voices escalate like notes in a music sheet. Their chests constrict with hurt as yells of ‘If you leave us we’ll kill ourselves!’ echo endlessly into the hollow of their hearts.
Because no matter how much they want to scream for him not to leave, no matter how much they want to cling onto his arms, no matter how willing they were to take their lives than live one without him, they could not.
They do not cry, they do not scream, they do not run for him.
They do not need to do such things.
Let me see them, reveal your eyes,
Your sad, unreadable, desolate eyes.
I’ll watch as colors within them fade,
As I go and a goodbye to you be made.
I see everything within your gaze,
Telling me words unsaid with haste.
I’m leaving now, return unknown,
Remember 2PM.
Your Leadja’s heartbeat’s always for you to own.
Their gaze, the only thing connecting Park Jaebeom to 2PM in their very moment, says of one thing, and one thing alone.
When you’re ready,
Come back to us.
