Because I DO have something better to do...

Everything it wrapped and under the tree. Covering the base of the tree really helps make it look less fake. (:-D)

I got seven books for my birthday. 1-4: Mercedes Lackey's Dragon Rider series. (SO engrossing!) 5: I Can Has Cheeseburger? (Hilarity ensues...) 6&7: The Manga Bible: Genesis through Revelation and The Manga Bible: Messiah. (I've already read more than half of the Manga Bible: Genesis through Revelation. It's missing stuff, which isn't surprising once you think about it, but it's still weird reading about Cain and Abel and not finding out what happens with Cain after he kills Abel. But I do now finally know what all ten of the plagues of Egypt are. Manga is so much easier to read than King James English!) Part of me is positively gleeful at the coolness of it all, but another, much smaller and - sadly - more mainstream part is deeply bothered by just how much of a geek I am.

And Emily gave me a painting of a flamingo on a golden, sunny beach.

And my body gave me a cold.

I've gotten to spend a lot of time with Beth and Holly this past week, too, which was nice. They help me feel like less of a schlump.

Being that I'm not having one of my down weeks - which I totally was last week - I've been fairly prolific with whole job hunting thing. I have realized that, while I may prefer editing over marketing, I'm better poised to get marketing work in this area, and have therefore been working the marketing angle much more heavily than I have previously done. Still trying with the editing, and with the design, but it's just easier to find marketing openings, so I'm feeling more productive now because I'm doing more job applications now.

Seth and I plan to go to Boone to be with the paternal side of the family for an early Christmas, so as soon as we confirm the plan with the Pater Familius we will be gone from tomorrow afternoon through no later than Tuesday. At which point I expect Frank will arrive and take me to WaHo for the annual pre-Christmas 3am breakfast-and-shopping-discussion, which will then lead to his handing me a couple hundred bucks and a rather regimented list to deal with in the last-minute shopping crush. And then he, Seth, and I will go the the all-night Wankmart at roughly 11pm Christmas Eve to unceremoniously shove shit under his nose, say "I want that," then stick somewhere in his line of sight and announce in a loud and automatic manner that we have to pee and will be back in five minutes. It's tradition. Honestly I'll be damn disappointed if it doesn't go down like that.

Kinda hard to think Christmas is just a week away. Then New Year a week after that, and whatever shall I look forward to then? *wistful sigh*

Well, time to go deal with Momma's not-quite-annual newsletter...

cool shit, family, christmas, birthday
