Quick update. Or not.

Not a whole lot going on with me. Or maybe so much going on with me that I don't have time to talk about it?

My classes started back this week, and it's been an adventure getting used to it. The class part is great, but I'm late every day because I'd forgotten how long it takes to get to school. Over break I just strolled up there with no schedule in mind, so I had no need to time things. Now I'm back on a schedule, it takes some getting used to.

Not sleeping enough, but that doesn't even surprise me anymore. Our flat started having to pay our own power last week. In the last 11 days we have consistently used £10 of power a day. And we've all cut our energy use to the bone. I've been talking to other people at JFC; they're not paying as much as we are, and they're using more power than we are. There's going to be some serious bitching at residential services very soon. The porters keep trying to tell us that there's nothing wrong with our meter and we're just using that much electricity, but it's just not possible. It's absolutely not possible that we can be using £300 of electricity a month. That's $600. My entire block back in Wendell probably doesn't use $600 of electricity a month. This is some bullshit, and somebody needs to fix it!

In other news, I'm back into Brig - tomorrow is deadline day and I've got three articles to submit, on top of the article I already sent in last week. I'm also back into Shazam!, Chocolate Appreciation, and I've gotten into a new club called Reason & Reality. It's all about getting together and discussing/debating controversial religious issues as they apply to society today. Next week's topic is "Am I going to hell?" I'm expecting an interesting meeting.

Plus, in class we're all just jumping right straight into the deep end of the pool. Next week we're going to be bringing our projects to class so our design prof can give them the once over and help us iron out any issues we're having. And we're bringing in what we have of our dissertations for the editing prof to have a quick once over of and help us iron out editing issues there. She may hate my ass when she sees mine. Everyone else has a few hundred to a couple thousand words. Ryan's the only person I've talked to who has as many as 5000 words. Meanwhile, I have over 12000 words written, and by Wednesday will likely have finished. I hope. How fucking cool! I've been spectacularly unmotivated this week, and have done shockingly little in comparison to the two weeks before this one, but I knew that would happen, so I'm okay with it. But I fully intend to have finished this bad boy by next week. That way, I can stop thinking about it all the damn time and just concentrate on other stuff.

And... that's about it. I went and played pool with Mel and one of her mates this week, and we ended up being asked to play with these random drunk guys. They kept trying to feed us drinks and get us to go to a party with them. Yeah. Right. Mel and I are smarter than that. Carrie, Mel's friend, was even smarter: she cleared out as soon as they invited us over to their table. Hey, at least it was a good game, even if the skeezmeisters were trying to skeez up on us.

It's been a good week. Long, but good.
