HR 4437

Mar 26, 2006 10:56

I guess we shouldn't have been so surprised that there was a 500,000 strong march in LA, but thlu, who lives in LA, says that you'd be luck y if you can get 10,000 people to an anti-war march.  So 500,000 is a BIG suprise, but it's probably just a small example of what obvious suppression can lead to: people organized and resist.

"Illegal immigration" and the ruling class' inability to resolve the issue (even in its own gross way) embodies the conflicting interests between capitalism and white supremacy.  While there is a need for labor in the US, and undocumented and documented immigrants meet this need, the strong push for a white supremacist America remains a need, hence HR 4437.  You need a program that will control the flow of labor and the flow of non-whites.  The guestworker program is a compromise between capital and white supremacy: you get the labor, but not the lives of these immigrants.  HR 4437 ensures that the guestworker program will be more effective.  What the right doesn't realize, however, is that when there is such overt racism, people rise up.  I agree with
illogic82, when is the Bay Area going to rise up in mass?  I know there's a hunger strike going on, so is this where it's at?!
